Homeowner shoots man breaking into house near Barrett

A homeowner shot an intruder Friday in northeast Harris County Texas, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The man allegedly broke into a home near the 200 block of Nod Avenue shortly after noon Friday, Gonzalez tweeted. The homeowner, who was carrying some sort of firearm, spotted the intruder and opened fire, striking him at least once.

The suspected burglar was found lying in the middle of Nod Avenue with a gunshot wound when someone called 911. Paramedics rushed to the street and called for Memorial Herman Life Flight to airlift him to the hospital.

The extent of his injuries was not immediately clear. The homeowner who opened fire is being questioned by investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
