This is why demoncraps are pushing Delta Variant™ fear.

It’s a distraction.

They want people to fear the bug not the increase in gas, lumber and groceries

If SloJoe and his bunch of idjits in the accomplice media don’t divert attention away from this they will get trounced in the next election.

Why the Flu vanished last year

CDC Alerts Labs to Use Tests That Can Differentiate Between COVID and Flu.

At the end of last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a concerning laboratory alert.

The agency announced that after December 31, 2021, it will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel. The test came out in February 2020 to detect the SARS-CoV-2 (i.e., the coronavirus causing COVID019) only.

In preparation for this change, CDC recommends clinical laboratories and testing sites that have been using the CDC 2019-nCoV RT-PCR assay select and begin their transition to another FDA-authorized COVID-19 test. CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses. Such assays can facilitate continued testing for both influenza and SARS-CoV-2 and can save both time and resources as we head into influenza season. Laboratories and testing sites should validate and verify their selected assay within their facility before beginning clinical testing.

At the heart of the alert is a specific CDC-developed PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test to detect genetic material from a particular organism, such as a virus. The agency is stressing the need for multiple tests, including ones recommended by the CDC, which can look for both the coronavirus and various types of influenza at the same time. This offers a chance to do influenza surveillance and identify flu strains while testing for SARS-CoV-2(the virus that causes COVID-19).

It appears if the SARS-CoV-2-only test found only that pathogen, and if that was the only test done, then flu strains went undetected. The “flu season” impact is evident to anyone interested in looking at the data (emphasis mine).

Biden/Harris Administration already weaponizing ATF without waiting for Chipman

Even though Joe Biden’s nomination of David Chipman to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has “issues” according to one senior Democrat, and is stalled in a Senate committee, the Biden/Harris Administration has started weaponizing the ATF without waiting for the president’s embattled nominee to take over.

As expected, their target is the firearms industry.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation recently received a copy of an internal ATF memo, which was written by Acting Assistant Director George Lauder and sent to ATF’s senior management.

The memo mentions Biden’s five-point strategy to reduce gun violence, which was announced at a press conference June 23.

“ATF’s role in the Strategy is essential, and includes refocusing our FFL inspection and administration action policies,” Lauder wrote.

The memo calls on field agents to prioritize their gun shop inspections by using a data tool that tracks the number of firearms sold by a gun dealer that are later used in crimes. It also tracks the time period between the sale and the crime.

When they say the memo, the NSSF immediately alerted their members, because of the impact it might have on a gun dealer’s ability to conduct business.

“This memo is concerning because it is the opening moves to the manifestation of what both President Biden and Vice President Harris said they would do during the presidential campaign. They said they would use the ATF as a bludgeon against the firearm industry and revoke licenses for minor clerical errors,” Mark Oliva, NSSF’s public affairs director told me Tuesday. “It is very concerning that the ATF would be using data analytics for crimes that were committed by unrelated third party or attempt to draw conclusions of time-to-crime statistics to label a lawful retailer as party to criminal activity.”

The remainder of the memo focuses on what Biden calls “rogue gun dealers,” who he claims are responsible for violent crime increases in five major cities historically controlled by Democrats.

If an ATF inspector finds that a gun dealer has transferred a firearm to a prohibited person, or failed to conduct a background check, falsified records or refused to cooperate with an ATF tracing request or inspection, the inspector is to recommend revocation of the dealer’s Federal Firearms License.

The gun dealers I spoke to Tuesday scoffed at this new assertion. This has always been the law, they said. The president is simply grandstanding, trying to take the heat off of the Democrats in charge of these crime-ridden cities by creating a new boogeyman for the public and the media to blame for the increasing crime – the “rogue gun dealer.”

“The overwhelming majority of firearm retailers abide by federal and state laws and regulations,” Oliva said. “Retailers that ignore the law are participating in criminal activity and NSSF wants those individuals to be held responsible for their actions, However, the Department of Justice’s own reports show the overwhelming majority of criminals obtain firearms through illicit means, mostly through theft or the black market.”

The day after Biden announced his five-point strategy, I submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the ATF, seeking the numbers of gun dealers, by state, who, over the past three years, have been prosecuted for willfully transferring a firearm to a prohibited person and/or for refusing to cooperate with a tracing request from the ATF. Experts say the number will be very small – less than a dozen across the entire country.

To date, the ATF has not even acknowledged receipt of the FOIA request.

“Because the public health leaders in our administration have made the determination based on data, that, that is a way to make sure they’re protected, their loved ones are protected, um, and that’s an extra step given the transmissibility of the virus.”

Because they say so?
That’s their answer?
That’s not an answer, it’s an excuse, one that can be used to justify anything by an authoritarian government. And one more indication that something stinks about this whole thing.

Well, maybe it is, along with all this other stuff

It’s not the vaccine, stupid

Why do so many Americans resist being vaccinated against COVID?  Or is that what they are actually resisting?

When I was a child, I was vaccinated against a number of deadly diseases.  As an adult, I had my own child vaccinated.  On the whole, vaccinations have saved countless lives and prevented epidemics that would otherwise have ravaged our nation and others.

Yet today, with a pandemic that has gripped the entire world with fears of a plague of (what they call) biblical proportions, there is more resistance to vaccination than ever before.  In reaction, there are calls for “vaccine mandates,” which would effectively force injections upon the population in vast numbers.  Why do so many people adamantly refuse to “take the shot”?

There is a reason.  Millions of Americans no longer trust their government.   The political left dismisses this distrust with its usual accusations of conservative ignorance, extremism, and racism, but those words, overused for many years, no longer coerce most Americans.

I know people who took the vaccine because their personal physicians, whom they trust, recommended it.  They were hesitant to accept that advice, but because of additional factors such as advanced age and complicated health issues, they finally gave in, fearing that for them, an infection might mean a death sentence.

However, when a bureaucrat demands that you be injected with a substance hidden behind walls of government censorship and secrecy, those with low risk factors are correct to be suspicious.  When that distrusted government starts making threats, it only further increases the suspicion.

To this day, there is no official, plausible statement regarding the origin of the China Virus.  (Even calling it by that name is deemed racist.)  There is a case to be made as follows:  the virus was engineered in a Chinese bioweapons research and development facility in the city of Wuhan.  It was released, either deliberately or through culpable negligence.  It then spread worldwide, due to the premeditated deception and travel policies of the Chinese government.

If this case is factual (the evidence for it is impressive), then China has committed an overt act of war and killed millions of people in the process.  Worse yet, it indicates a complete willingness of the Chinese communist government, in the near future, to recklessly inflict millions more deaths in the pursuit of its imperial designs.  We can expect more, and worse, from them.

What if that case is not factual?  If not, then one would expect complete and total transparency, from the Chinese, from the World Health Organization, and from the United States government.  None of them has been forthcoming.  Quite to the contrary, there has been continual reversal and self-contradiction in the official U.S. and WHO declarations.  The facts are shrouded in secrecy.  The Chinese government audaciously rejects any form of inspection and, indeed, punishes those of its people who speak out.

Combine these facts with other, unrelated reasons for which Americans distrust their government.  For example, why do Democrats so stubbornly resist audits of the 2020 elections if they have nothing to hide?  Why doesn’t Joe Biden take the cognitive abilities test that Democrats insisted President Trump take?  (Trump passed with flying colors.)  Why are there no significant prosecutions of leftist demonstrators who burned large areas of cities, but people who defended their property are punished?  These are trust issues of major importance, yet the government turns a deaf ear.  Officials demand that we comply with their capricious regulations, and then themselves disobey those orders without consequence, as if they regard themselves not as our public servants, but as our masters and overlords.

Now those same government officials who do all that are approaching us with a needle and asking us to allow them to inject who-knows-what into our bodies, with absolutely zero credible studies about the long-term effects.

Utterly lacking in self-awareness, they wonder why we would even question them.

Just may be me, but I detect a pattern that’s the cause of the problem.
Can you spot it too?

ABC News Launches Weeklong Special on Crime Waves in Democrat-Run Cities

ABC News is running a weeklong special which examines the crime waves engulfing Democrat-run cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and New York.

Although the information is presented as national problem, the title is “One Nation Under Fire,” ABC News’ coverage began by mentioning shootings that occurred in Milwaukee during the celebration resulting from the Milwaukee Bucks wining the NBA finals.

Milwaukee is a Democrat-run city as are a host of others that are featured as exemplars requiring new, harsh gun control restrictions.

The evidence suggests otherwise:

ABC News noted they “dug” down and discovered “violence occurs disproportionately in poorer, urban areas — from Los Angeles to Chicago to New York City.”

Moreover, in looking at the gun violence that occurred around the nation last week, they noted “Illinois…topped the list for most people wounded from firearms at 124.”

Chicago is located in Illinois, and Breitbart News reported 13 were shot Thursday of last week in Mayor Lightfoot’s Chicago, and nearly 30 people were shot on Wednesday.

ABC News also noted in Philadelphia, “the gun-related death toll has already surpassed 300 this year.”  Philadelphia is another Democrat-run city.

ABC News also covered an accidental shooting “in a dark church parking lot in Utah” on the night of July 17/18. This and similar mentions of isolated incidents allowed them to talk of gun violence without isolating the Democrat-run cities.

If the Trump WH Ever Gave an Answer Like This, The Press Would Have Had a Total Meltdown

It’s an old game, but one that never loses its entertainment value. How would the media react if Donald Trump or his White House staff gave this answer on this, that, or the other? You all know the answer. It would be a total meltdown. Not since reactor four in Chernobyl exploded would we see such an outburst of energy from the press. How this was irresponsible, a dark day, and maybe a constitutional crisis—the latter is a new favorite term the Left uses when discussing the Trump presidency. The reloading of this little game comes as Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that COVID vaccination was not mandatory with staffers last Thursday (via Fox News):

The Biden administration is not mandating COVID-19 vaccines for White House staff, press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday.

During the White House press briefing … Psaki suggested that every White House official had been offered a COVID-19 vaccine, but clarified Friday that the White House was not requiring officials to be vaccinated.

“No, we have not mandated it,” Psaki responded, after being asked whether the administration was mandating White House staff receive a coronavirus vaccine.

Psaki did not provide a specific number of how many White House officials have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, but said that they are able to track the number of individuals on the president’s staff because “they are vaccinated here in the White House medical unit.”

If the Trump White House said the exact same thing, the follow-ups would be about leading by example and why are they trying to kill people; I hate our press corps. Yet, they do, from time to time, have good moments. So, who got infected? Who has COVID? We know someone might have been since Psaki doesn’t want to say if there have been any breakthrough COVID infections among the White House staff, which are rare. Now, that’s a good question since an aide to Nancy Pelosi, who was vaccinated, tested positive after meeting with COVID-infested Texas Democrats who fled their state in an attempt to block the passage of a voter integrity bill. Why doesn’t she want to answer that? Even Psaki was taken aback by why a reporter wanted that information. It’s because of transparency.

Kamala Harris also met with the COVID-infected Texas Democrats. Does she, have it? Maybe. I don’t know. Mr. “America is Back” and his White House are clamming up about that. If Trump’s White House gave this answer, more impeachment talk would have come up. If we’ve learned anything from Democrats, especially this COVID-plagued lot from Texas, it’s that they should shut their faces about being responsible during a pandemic for the next 1,000 years.

Biden Official: Gun Access Prevents Stopping Domestic Terrorism

Domestic terrorism is the big boogieman these days, according to the party in power. Of course, it wasn’t last summer when “activists” burned down pretty much every major city they could get their hands on, but it’s different when it’s their people doing things, right?

However, in recent years, there have been several incidents that can be categorized as domestic terrorism such as white supremacy-motivated attacks on Jewish synagogues as well as the attack on Republican lawmakers in Alexandria.

Now, an official with the Biden administration is claiming that a lack of gun control makes it more difficult to stop attacks like these.

“Easy access to firearms — especially certain types of firearms — can make acts of domestic terrorism more feasible to undertake and more lethal once they happen,” JOSHUA GELTZER, the deputy homeland security adviser at the NSC, told NatSec Daily in his first on-the-record interview since assuming that position this month. “As this administration works … to address some of the challenges associated with the widespread availability of firearms in this country, we are doing so with the knowledge that that is a priority in and of itself — as well as one that relates to the stepped-up efforts that we’re undertaking to address domestic terrorists.”

Geltzer piloted the first-everNational Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism,” bringing together experts from across the government to understand the threat and plan for it. One aspect of the strategy includes “reducing access to assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and enforcing legal prohibitions that keep firearms out of dangerous hands.”

Geltzer was more explicit on the administration’s link between gun control and quashing domestic terrorism during his interview with NatSec Daily. Asked if gun reforms were imperative to stopping domestic terrorism, Geltzer replied: “I think tackling things that feed into the domestic terrorism challenge is an imperative, and there are a lot of things that feed into it. Easy access to certain types of firearms feeds into it. But so does, for example, polarization fueled by disinformation. That can make recruitment to domestic terrorism causes easier and more likely.”

I’m absolutely stunned that someone from the Biden administration would make the case that gun control would somehow help combat domestic terrorism. I mean, no one else besides, like, everyone in the administration would ever make such a case.

However, let’s also understand that the worst domestic terrorism case in the United States was Oklahoma City, which used no guns at all.

The problem with domestic terrorism, like any terrorism, isn’t that they might get weapons. They’re going to get weapons of some description, even if they have to make them.

No, the issue is to look for clues that they’re planning something, which almost always exists. There are clues that they’re up to something and people need to know that if they think something is up, they’re better off notifying the police than just assuming it’s nothing. If it turns out to be nothing, so be it, but if you fail to act and innocent people die because of that, is it something you can live with?

The truth is that gun control isn’t an essential ingredient to combating domestic terrorism. It’s not even a particularly key ingredient. It’s just another excuse the Biden administration is willing to concoct to justify infringing on our Second Amendment rights.

Lawn Order, Chinese Style

California is home to nearly 40 million people and the supply of water does not always meet demand, particularly in times of drought. A recent newspaper article offered the solution of snitching on one’s neighbors.

On July 9, the Sacramento Bee published an article headlined, “Is your neighbor wasting water? Snitching on them may ease California drought, study says.” According to the report, “ratting out one’s neighbors could help relieve some of the pressure from California’s current drought.”

That caught the attention of California Globe editor Katy Grimes.

“While California politicians and water officials have long supported water snitches,” Grimes wrote on July 12, “this is the first time we’ve seen a study supporting the idea, and curiously, an out-of-state university study.” That study turned out to be “Public Water Waste Reporting: Contextual Correlates and Conservation Outcomes,” by University of Wisconsin-Madison professor Manny Teodoro, a self-described “environmental justice” warrior.

According to the study’s summary, “The success of water conservation restrictions depends in part on governments’ capacity to monitor water use. Inviting the general public to report instances of water waste is one means of expanding government capacity to monitor and enforce water use.”

For Grimes, “the study was all about monitoring neighbors and ratting them out when their sprinklers run too long or on the wrong allowable water day.” In this case, Teodoro leaned on strategic assistance.

The study supports the idea of “participatory surveillance” and cites the Chinese research article “Social ties and citizen-initiated contacts: the case of China’s local one-stop government,” written by Youlang Zhang, assistant professor in public administration at China’s Renmin University, and Xufeng Zhu, professor of public policy and management at China’s Tsinghua University. The article examines why some citizens are “more likely to initiate contact with the government than others.”

As the abstract explains, “We find that citizens with strong political ties are significantly likely to initiate contact with local one-stop governments.” For Grimes, “strong political ties” means that “these citizens have some sort of political tie to the Chinese Communist Party and/or the Chinese government because China is a one-party state.”

As it turns out, the research for “Social ties and citizen-initiated contacts” was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), established in 1986 under the jurisdiction of the State Council and since 2018 managed by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The State Council of the People’s Republic of China, in turn, is “the Central People’s Government of the PRC” and “the highest organ of state administration.”

The English-language link for the State Council shows a photo of Xi Jinping participating in the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) centenary celebrations. In China, all science is political science, and everything traces back to the CCP. Meanwhile, the push for what Grimes calls “water snitching” is hardly the only Chinese influence in California.

For the new span of the Bay Bridge from San Francisco to Oakland, California rejected federal funding that would have required the use of American steel. Instead California contracted with China’s state-owned Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., which at the time had no experience building bridges. California politicians claimed Chinese steel, engineering, and labor would save money and render a quality product. They were wrong. The span came in 10 years late, $5 billion over budget, and riddled with safety issues that remain to this day.

One of the biggest boosters of the new span was Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, a former mayor of San Francisco. In March 2020, Gov. Newsom declared a state of emergency and during an April 7, 2020 MSNBC appearance, announced a $1 billion deal for “upwards of 200 million masks” with “a manufacturer here in the state of California.” That turned out to be Build Your Dreams (BYD), a Chinese company with no experience manufacturing masks, and at the time the efficacy of masks was still in question.

The $1 billion deal was 30 percent more than the state budget allotted for infectious diseases for the entire fiscal year. Newsom hid details of the deal, even from fellow Democrats. The governor quickly sent the first installment of $495 million to BYD, and the Chinese company referred reporters’ questions back to his office.

Newsom’s dealings with BYD have made the recall election something of a referendum on China. The vote will take place on Sept. 14.

GAINING DEPTH ON GAIN OF FUNCTION: FAUCI FLOPS

We may as well try to close the loop on our efforts to understand the issue between Senator Rand Paul and the fallacious Dr. Fauci. Neil Cavuto gave Fauci the opportunity to respond to Josh Rogin’s Washington Post column taking up the issue (I excerpted it here) on his FOX News show yesterday.

Cavuto is a friendly interlocutor for Fauci. On Tuesday he judged Fauci “a good man, a good doctor.” He declared that “[Fauci] has been vilified to the point that you’d think he was Lex Luthor, and I don’t know how productive that is.”

Cavuto failed to press Fauci on any of the several subjects he covered in the course of the 16-minute segment. FOX News has posted the 16-minute video clip of the segment here. On the question of gain-of-function research, I find the evasiveness of Fauci’s response and the appeal to the character of everyone involved telling, but you be the judge. The clip below comes at 11:00 of the Cavuto segment.

FBI Attempts to Do Damage Control After Initiating Whitmer Kidnapping Plot

The FBI is attempting to do damage control after it was revealed the law enforcement bureau initiated and carried out a significant portion of the kidnapping plot against Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer last year.

“Partnerships are key to disrupting violent plots. With the terror threat growing more insular, awareness and reporting are crucial,” the FBI posted on a their website this week. “This is especially true for domestic terrorism—defined as violent, criminal acts committed by individuals or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature. Because the FBI’s mission includes protecting the free speech rights of Americans, we need a clear reason to act or investigate. A person’s beliefs can never be the sole reason to open an investigation.”

FBI Director Christopher Wray is also weighing in and attempting to reassure Americans the FBI respects their rights.

“The FBI holds sacred the rights of individuals to peacefully exercise their First Amendment freedoms,” he said.

The FBI’s heavy involvement in the plot raises serious questions about how the agency conducts operations, for what purpose and to what extent agents were involved in the January 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol.

Biden Admin Disavows CRT Material Originally Included in Official School Reopening Guidance

After the Biden administration’s Department of Education was forced to walk back guidance on schools reopening that included counsel from critical race theory purveyors Abolitionist Teaching Network, the White House disavowed the group in a press briefing on Thursday.

Facebook Flags the Name of a Gardening Tool When Used in a Gardening Group

The Biden White House leans on Facebook to censor your speech online if what you say goes against what the Biden White House wants you to say.

This is not a conspiracy theory. It’s a fact. Let’s see how well Facebook handles the very sensitive topic of policing even non-political speech in a nation that’s built on the principle that speech must be free, and where people have wide varieties of interests that may fall outside Silicon Valley’s collective experiences.

Facebook flagged the word hoe in a gardening group.

Oh. No. They censored “hoe.”

Wait ’til they figure out what people do with certain emojis…

A group called WNY Gardeners has been repeatedly flagged by the social network for “violating community standards,” when its more than 7,500 members discussed the long-handled bladed implement, which is spelled with an “e,” unlike the offensive term.

When one member commented “Push pull hoe!” on a post about preferred weeding tools, Facebook sent a notification that read, “We reviewed this comment and found it goes against our standards for harassment and bullying,” a moderator said.

This is funny and would be a lot funnier if the Biden White House hadn’t deputized Facebook to chase you and me around on its platform if we post something the regime doesn’t like. But it has.

Dumb White House plus dumb censors = a major problem.

Yesterday I tried to share a graphic on Facebook that said factually true things that are not in dispute. Facebook gave me a little warning as I was posting, as if to flash a yellow light, warning me to slow down and think about whether I really want to speak against the regime.

I posted it anyway and headlined it noting that Facebook tried to slow it down. I am both an American and a Texan.

Back to the hoe scandal. Facebook said it would put more humans on the task, supposedly to avoid censoring hoes and the like. That’s not a comfort to any thinking individual.

The extra set of eyes did not prevent a subsequent post in the group from being automatically disabled because of “possible violence, incitement, or hate in multiple comments,” Licata said.

“Kill them all. Drown them in soapy water,” and “Japanese beetles are jerks,” were some comments Facebook deemed offensive, according to the moderator.

(Eyeroll.)

Japanese beetles are jerks.

Japanese beetles are a serious pest of flowers, trees and shrubs, fruits and vegetables, field crops and turf.

That’s not me talking. That’s the University of Minnesota. Whoever wrote that will be hauled in for sensitivity training any minute now.

We live in a time in which some dopey scientist out there wants us all to mind the feelings of sharks, and the stupid mainstream media doesn’t laugh him straight off the nearest pier.

Little-Known California Gun Control Law A Great Big Failure

One of the lesser known California gun control laws is its Armed and Prohibited Persons system; a statewide database of known prohibited persons who are believed to still have firearms in their possession. The law, which was put on the books about twenty years ago, is supposed to allow law enforcement to go out and take guns from those who aren’t allowed to have them. As the website CalMatters reports, however, that’s not what’s happening. Instead, the law appears to be an unmitigated disaster.

But what seemed at the time like a straight-forward approach to the enforcement of existing gun laws has instead become mired in chronic shortcomings, failing for years to make good on its potential. Successive administrations have vowed to fix the problems, but all have fallen short.

Today, the state is struggling to recover thousands of guns from people who have been ordered to surrender them. At the start of the year, the list compiled by the state Department of Justice had swelled to 24,000 individuals, the most ever. The pandemic only worsened the mounting backlog of cases when some state Justice Department agents were pulled from field enforcement.

“We are lucky to have a system that tells us this information,” said Julia Weber, a former supervising attorney for the state courts’ administration who now works on gun policy issues for the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. “But it’s disheartening. It’s a failure of the promise of the system.”

With all of the other failures of gun control, you’d think an anti-gun activist like Julia Weber would be used to the disappointment by now, but apparently not.

While the backlog of prohibited persons has grown to an all-time high, the failures of the system have been apparent for years. As California Rifle & Pistol Association President Chuck Michel outlined in 2019, under then-Attorney General Kamala Harris, the APPS program was plagued with issues.

The White House Is Panicked Over Inflation (Even Though YOU Have the Most to Lose)

I’ve spent so much time writing about inflation these last few months that it’s been almost tempting to put on a leisure suit and light my office with a disco ball.

Almost.

Judging by Presidentish Joe Biden’s awful and awkward speech on Monday, there’s at least a mild panic in the White House over the surge in consumer prices — and the even bigger (but rarely addressed) spike in producer prices.

Last week you could see the panicked writing on the Oval Office wall.

ASIDE: I almost wrote “Oval Office walls,” but if you think about it, there’s only one.

While PJ Media’s own Tyler O’Neil has the full details on Biden’s stock-market-rattling speech, it’s the motivation behind it that interests me.

As I write this, the Dow is down about 2.5%, NASDAQ has shed about 1.5% of its value, and the S&P is down more than 2%. Those numbers have been getting worse all day — they didn’t recover any after Biden finished mumbling his way through yet another set of pointless remarks.

The White House had to know it was taking a big risk with the markets, giving Biden a microphone and the sad duty of at least tacitly admitting that the inflation threat is real. (Plus, unnecessarily working up fresh COVID panic, but that’s a subject for another column.)

Despite weeks of official denials that the months-long inflationary surge was only “temporary,” White House economic officials Brian Deese and Cecilia Rouse felt it necessary to meet last week with Larry Summers.

Why is that revealing?

Summers isn’t merely a former Treasury secretary under Bill Clinton and onetime economic advisor to Barack Obama, he’s also a longtime inflation hawk whom Democrats are “angry” with over his recent warnings.

MSN News described Summers as “the most prominent Democratic critic of Biden’s economic agenda,” who “blasted the size of the March economic relief bill.”

My guess is that Biden’s people got an earful from Summers, so much so that they felt they had to get out in front of this thing.

The demoncrap majority in the Colorado legislature rescinded state ‘preemption’ of gun laws. Now the cities run by democraps can pass ordinances that will return the state to the hodgepodge of multifarious, various and sundry law that will make the state a minefield for the law abiding citizen to travel through. Which is exactly what the demoncraps want so they can have another way to bash their political enemies.

Jefferson County [Colorado]  Sheriff won’t enforce Foothills concealed carry ban; says civil offense the district’s responsibility.

LITTLETON —Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Shrader has sent a letter to the Foothills Parks and Recreation District (FPRD) clarifying any role his office would play in a possible future regulation to ban the concealed carry of a firearm by lawfully-permitted citizens on district-managed property.

“I have substantial concern in taking action against an individual who is otherwise acting in a legal and proper manner,” Shrader said in part in the letter.

Shrader’s office sent Complete Coloradowhich broke the story outlining the district’s plan, a copy of the letter.

At issue is Senate Bill 21-256, which allows local governments to enact gun control laws within their jurisdiction that are “not less restrictive than state laws governing the sale, purchase, transfer, or possession of the firearm, ammunition, or firearm component or accessory.”

In other words, local governments may enact gun regulations only if they are stricter than those at the state level.  A local government could not, for instance, expand gun rights or loosen existing restrictions under the new law, as one might expect under the traditional understanding of local control.

It was one of the many controversial measures aimed at restricting the rights of gun owners pushed through by majority Democrats in the 2021 session. What it also does, however, is allow local governments and special taxing districts to enact laws banning concealed carry.

Just three days after the governor signed the new law, FPRD staff asked its board to consider a ban on concealed carry of firearms on its facilities, which include three recreation centers, one 2-sheet ice arena, four indoor and four outdoor swimming pools and two indoor sports facilities, 68 park sites totaling more than 2,400 acres and including: four regional parks, 43 community and neighborhood parks, 21 greenbelts and two golf courses (totaling 54 holes).

Additionally, Foothills manages six regional trail corridors totaling 14.9 miles for public use, and nearly 18 miles park trails.

BLUF:
Gun control proponents may never admit the numerous failures under their policies. But sometimes actions speak louder than words

Cuomo’s Emergency Order on Gun Violence Reveals the Failure of Gun Control

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo recently signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency over gun violence in the state.

The nation has seen a spike in crime in many places during the pandemic, but New York’s increase in violence has garnered heightened attention from viral videos of sudden sidewalk attacks, brutal subway abuse, and random gunfire in Times Square. New York’s increase in gun crimes does indeed outpace many other states. New York City experienced a 73 percent increase in shooting incidents between May of 2020 and May of 2021. In comparison, Washington DC, which also experienced a spike in gun crimes, reported a 23 percent increase during the first five months of 2021.

And yet, New York has long employed some of the strictest gun laws in the country. In the city, where most of the violence is concentrated, it is virtually impossible for anyone outside of law enforcement to obtain a gun permit—they often can’t even have them in their homes, much less on their person.

Commenting on his executive order, Cuomo said there are currently more people dying in New York by gun violence and crime than of COVID-19. “We went from one epidemic to another epidemic,” he said. “We went from Covid to the epidemic of gun violence and the fear and the death that goes along with it.”

The governor also picked up a familiar talking point that other leaders in strict gun control areas have relied on when facing rampant gun violence. He blamed neighboring states. According to Cuomo, many of the illegal guns in the state are purchased from outside of New York. “I have a vision of a border war because we wasted so much time and money in this nation fighting illegal immigration,” he said. “Illegal immigration is not killing Americans! Illegal guns are killing Americans.”

While not all of the policies under Cuomo’s new plan to combat violence focus on gun control, his executive order indicates these policies will get more than their fair share of resources.

Democrats Trying To Sneak Illegal Alien Amnesty Into ‘Infrastructure’ Bill.

The “infrastructure” bill was already a dog’s breakfast of hard-left graft wish lists. But Democrats also want to use it as a Trojan horse for illegal alien amnesty as well:

What better time to push through amnesty for potentially millions of illegal immigrants than during the Biden border crisis? As tone-deaf as the plan is, that is exactly what Senate Democrats are planning to do in the $3.5T infrastructure bill. A decision has not been made on the numbers yet but Senator Dick Durbin, the Senate Democratic Whip, confirmed this week that it will happen. Democrats will try to push through immigration reform in the budget process.

With the news being reported today that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer wants to bring a trial vote on infrastructure to the floor of the Senate by Wednesday of next week, this is an interesting turn of events. Add that to the ruling by the federal judge who determined that DACA is “an illegally implemented program”, and immigration reform has come to the forefront of political discourse once again. In the past, it has been an issue that a bipartisan group gets together and comes up with a plan to move immigration reform through Congress but at the last minute it always falls apart and the issue gets kicked down the road. This plan will likely include those people designated as Dreamers, farmworkers, and possibly essential workers like those who worked as health care workers during the pandemic.

Politico reports that this plan is being hatched by leaders of the Progressive Caucus, the Hispanic Caucus, and the Black Caucus. The biggest cheerleaders for this move are Senators Durbin, Bob Menendez, and Bernie Sanders. Rep. Raul Ruiz of California is chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and he says, “This is currently our best effort.” Democrats privately admit that this is likely their only chance to ram through immigration reform.

And all this despite a crisis at the border and polls that show illegal alien amnesty is extremely unpopular.
