{"id":100079,"date":"2024-02-15T13:18:05","date_gmt":"2024-02-15T19:18:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=100079"},"modified":"2024-02-15T13:21:38","modified_gmt":"2024-02-15T19:21:38","slug":"100079","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=100079","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox13memphis.com\/news\/gunshots-kill-man-injure-another-in-suspected-burglary-police-say\/article_abfeb84e-cb29-11ee-a5aa-a7d016876314.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tenant shoots, kills intruder and injures another during suspected home invasion<\/a><\/p>\n<p>MEMPHIS, Tenn. &#8211; An early morning home invasion ended with two men shot, police said.\u00a0One died, while a second man was in critical condition, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).<\/p>\n<p>Police said the two men broke into an apartment at the Cedarwoods Apartments in Raleigh.\u00a0Police said the person renting the apartment woke up and saw the suspects breaking in and shot them.<\/p>\n<p>FOX13 spoke to neighbors who live near the apartment unit where the shooting happened.\u00a0\u201cWe were in bed and we heard about 15 rounds of gunshots,\u201d said Mallorie Haley. \u201cHe heard, like, \u2018Get away from here, get away from here!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Van Buford lives with Haley.\u00a0Buford and Haley told FOX13 they could hear the exchange between the tenant and the suspects.\u00a0\u201cHe said, \u2018They tried to break in my house. I killed somebody, and that\u2019s when we heard another guy scream, &#8216;Help, help, help!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Memphis Police were called to the Cedarwoods Apartments around 3 a.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>MPD spokesman Chris Williams told FOX13 it will be up to the Shelby County District Attorney\u2019s Office on whether the tenant gets charged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll present the facts, evidence to his office and they will make the determination if charges should be rendered in this case,\u201d said Williams.<\/p>\n<p>Buford told FOX13, he just wishes the crime would stop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery day you look on the news, somebody\u2019s doing something, somebody\u2019s getting killed.
