George Washington\u2019s secretary Col.\u00a0Joseph Reed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanflags.com\/blog\/post\/an-appeal-to-heaven-flag-meaning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">created the flag in 1775<\/a> to publicly display \u201can appeal to God to save the colonists from the King\u2019s oppressive ruling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The same outlets fomenting fake scandal about the alleged Alito flag have never taken issue with any Americans displaying\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/25\/to-americas-virtue-signaling-elite-ukraine-is-the-new-black-lives-matter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Black Lives Matter, Ukraine<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/11\/08\/what-i-saw-at-the-free-palestine-march-in-d-c\/\">pro-terrorist<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/13\/the-american-and-rainbow-flags-stand-for-two-incompatible-definitions-of-liberty-and-only-one-can-rule-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rainbow flags<\/a>, despite their connections to anti-American agitation. The Spanish cannon in the center of the flag represents a real cannon Texans were gifted to fend off Native American-led raids.<\/p>\n<p>When the Texas Revolution began brewing, the Mexican government tried to take the weapon back.
