Overnight Chatham County shooting was in self defense; gunman not facing charges<\/a>
\nAccording to Chatham County Police, officers arrested one man on multiple charges after an altercation led to the suspect being shot.<\/p>\n

Update 1:20 p.m.: Police have shared additional information following Monday night’s shooting.<\/p>\n

According to CCPD, officers arrested one man on multiple charges after an altercation led to the suspect being shot.<\/p>\n

Officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Oak Forest Drive around 10 p.m. When they arrived, witnesses said one man had come to the home uninvited, and began a verbal argument and assault on another man. The two knew each other.<\/p>\n

As the assault continued, witnesses said the victim shot the man who attacked him.<\/p>\n

The suspect was identified as 51-year-old Diego Holland. He is charged with battery , burglary in the 1st degree and two counts of cruelty to children in the 3rd degree.<\/p>\n

Police say no charges are expected to be filed against the victim.<\/p>\n

Police in Chatham County say one person has been taken to the hospital following an overnight shooting.<\/p>\n

The Chatham County Police Department reported shortly after 11 p.m. Monday that they responded to a report of a shooting on the 2400 block of Oak Forest Drive.<\/p>\n

One man was taken to the hospital “with potentially serious gunshot wounds,” police said in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n

Another man was detained.<\/p>\n
