Netanyahu says Golan Heights will always be \u2018part of Israel\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria highlights the \u201cgreat importance\u201d of the occupation state\u2019s presence on the Golan Heights. Israeli control of the Syrian territory \u201cguarantees\u201d its security and sovereignty, he insisted. \u201cThe Golan Heights,\u201d he added, \u201cwill forever be an inseparable part of the State of Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n

The far-right Israeli leader, for whom an arrest warrant for war crimes and crimes against humanity has been issued by the International Criminal Court, said on Monday evening that the Assad regime was a \u201ccentral element of Iran\u2019s axis of evil,\u201d noting that Tehran invested a lot in Syria, but everything collapsed.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu pointed out that the Assad regime committed massacres of thousands in Syria, and \u201cfostered hostility and hatred\u201d toward Israel, acting as the front line in what he called \u201cIranian terrorism\u201d, as well as a route to transport weapons from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon.<\/p>\n
