{"id":109140,"date":"2025-04-10T16:18:39","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T21:18:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=109140"},"modified":"2025-04-10T16:18:39","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T21:18:39","slug":"109140","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=109140","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cwcolumbus.com\/news\/local\/ohio-enacts-new-law-impacting-gun-owners-rights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ohio enacts new law impacting purchasing guns<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"dateline\">COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) \u2014\u00a0<\/span>A new law which took effect Wednesday in Ohio is poised to significantly impact gun owners&#8217; rights.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Bill 58, signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine in January, is being hailed by gun advocates as a victory for Second Amendment supporters.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ohio enacts new law impacting purchasing guns\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MKNrUBCY3_U\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Eric Delbert, owner of <a class=\"themeColorForLinks\" title=\"https:\/\/www.lepd.com\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lepd.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LEPD Firearms and Range<\/a>, expressed relief over the new legislation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Giving people the ability to have that Second Amendment and purchase firearms comes with a lot,&#8221; Delbert said. &#8220;Taking this out of the mix is really a headache we were concerned about for the last couple of years now knowing that going forward that&#8217;s something we don&#8217;t have to worry about.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The law introduces two major changes: it prevents financial institutions from tracking transactions made at gun stores and prohibits the requirement of firearm liability insurance for gun owners.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>During the legislative debate in December, Rep. Dontavius Jarrells voiced opposition to the bill, emphasizing the importance of liability insurance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Weapons come with inherent risk,&#8221; Jarrells said. &#8220;The inherent risk of insurance is to mitigate those risks, protecting individuals or families from the devastating financial and emotional toll of unintentional shootings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Delbert argued against the necessity of liability insurance, stating, &#8220;We saw many states that were not necessarily pro-gun states try to put in legislation that if you owned a firearm that you had to carry liability insurance.
