Imagine going back in time to any point\u2014even just a few years ago\u2014and explaining that this is considered a serious argument.<\/p>\n<p>What I find most remarkable about the exchange is the attorney\u2019s acknowledgment that their intent is to \u201cinfluence\u201d children. He begins to explain that the goal is to install \u201ccivility,\u201d which is the \u201cnatural consequence of being exposed to\u2014\u201d before he is cut off. Was he going to say that \u201ccivility\u201d results from exposure to sexual content at a very young age? What could \u201ccivility\u201d possibly mean here?<\/p>\n<p>MR. SCHOENFELD: Pride Puppy was the book that was used for the pre-kindergarten curriculum. That\u2019s no longer in the curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>JUSTICE GORSUCH: That\u2019s the one where they\u2019re supposed to look for the leather and things\u2014bondage, things like that, right?<\/p>\n<p>MR. SCHOENFELD: It\u2019s not bondage. It\u2019s a woman in a leather\u2014<\/p>\n<p>JUSTICE GORSUCH: Sex worker, right?<\/p>\n<p>MR. SCHOENFELD: No. That\u2019s not correct. No.<\/p>\n<p>JUSTICE GORSUCH: I thought\u2014gosh, I read it.<\/p>\n<p>JUSTICE BARRETT: It\u2019s a drag queen in drag.<\/p>\n<p>JUSTICE GORSUCH: Drag queen in\u2014drag queen?<\/p>\n<p>MR. SCHOENFELD: So, correct. The leather that they&#8217;re pointing to is a woman in a leather jacket, and one of the words is drag queen in this\u2014<\/p>\n<p>JUSTICE GORSUCH: And they\u2019re supposed to look for those?<\/p>\n<p>MR. SCHOENFELD: It is an option at the end of the book, correct.<\/p>\n<p>JUSTICE GORSUCH: Yeah. Okay. And you&#8217;ve included these in the English language curriculum rather than the human sexuality curriculum to influence students, is that fair? That\u2019s what the district court found. Do you agree with that?<\/p>\n<p>MR. SCHOENFELD: I think, to the extent the district court found that it was to influence, it was to influence them towards civility, the natural consequence of being exposed to\u2014<\/p>\n<p>JUSTICE GORSUCH: Whatever, but to influence them.<\/p>\n<p>MR.
