{"id":110373,"date":"2025-05-31T12:47:39","date_gmt":"2025-05-31T17:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=110373"},"modified":"2025-05-31T12:47:39","modified_gmt":"2025-05-31T17:47:39","slug":"110373","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=110373","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cornyn seems to be trying to buy his way back into our good graces.<br \/>\nIf he wants any consideration, he better be right in there pushing for the inclusion of the SHORT act.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cornyn.senate.gov\/news\/cornyn-statement-on-inclusion-of-deregulating-firearm-suppressors-in-houses-one-big-beautiful-bill-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cornyn Statement on Inclusion of Deregulating Firearm Suppressors in House\u2019s \u2018One Big Beautiful Bill Act\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>WASHINGTON<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the<em>\u00a0One Big Beautiful Bill Act<\/em>, which includes a provision he is pushing for inclusion in the Senate\u2019s version of the legislation to deregulate firearms suppressors by eliminating the unconstitutional suppressor tax and registration requirements under the\u00a0<em>National Firearms Act<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFirearm silencers should not be subject to overregulation and unconstitutional taxes that hamstring Texans\u2019 freedoms and pocketbooks,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>said Sen. Cornyn.\u00a0<em>\u201cI\u2019m proud to see the House stand up for law-abiding gun owners, eliminate senseless red tape, and proudly defend our Second Amendment rights, and I will continue to fight for this as the Senate works to pass President Trump\u2019s One Big Beautiful Bill.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Background:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Suppressors are currently subject to additional regulatory burdens under the\u00a0<em>National Firearms Act<\/em>\u00a0(NFA). Sen. Cornyn cosponsored the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cornyn.senate.gov\/news\/cornyn-supports-hearing-protection-act-to-deregulate-firearm-suppressors\/\"><em>Hearing Protection Act<\/em><\/a>\u00a0to remove suppressors from regulation under the NFA and replace the burdensome federal transfer process with an instantaneous National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background check.\u00a0 This would make the purchasing and transfer process for suppressors similar to the process for rifles and shotguns.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. House of Representatives passed a reconciliation package today that includes\u00a0a\u00a0provisions from the\u00a0<em>Hearing Protection Act<\/em>\u00a0to strike the registration requirement for firearm silencers and makes the manufacturer tax on silencers $0. Specifically, it amends Sec. 112029 to strike the registration requirement for firearm silencers by removing silencers from the list of firearms in the tax code.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cornyn seems to be trying to buy his way back into our good graces.
