Man shoots, kills man who tried to rob him near downtown<\/a><\/p>\n

HOUSTON \u2014 A man claimed he shot and killed another man in self-defense Wednesday near downtown Houston,\u00a0according to police.<\/p>\n

The incident unfolded at a Midtown gas station parking lot along Main Street between Hadley Street and Webster Street around 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Investigators said the shooter told them the man he shot approached him and tried to rob him.<\/p>\n

That’s when he said he pulled out a gun and shot the man.<\/p>\n

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unclear if he was armed.<\/p>\n

The shooter remained at the scene and turned himself in when police got there. Investigators were interviewing the man to get his side of the story.<\/p>\n

Authorities said they’re working to get surveillance video of the shooting.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear if charges will be filed in the case.
