{"id":111175,"date":"2025-07-09T15:06:54","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T20:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=111175"},"modified":"2025-07-09T15:06:54","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T20:06:54","slug":"111175","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=111175","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2025\/07\/musks-america-party-long-on-exploiting-disgruntlement-short-on-specifics-for-gun-owners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Musk\u2019s \u2018America Party\u2019 Long on Exploiting Disgruntlement, Short on Specifics for Gun Owners<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1939806847504105683\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"52d4a0cf61a0a10aab8476a65a2fd1a0\">Elon Musk posted on\u00a0<em>X<\/em><\/a>. \u201cOur country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill has passed, and many MAGA supporters, particularly activist gun owners, are feeling betrayed, angry, and demoralized after a perceived commitment to remove suppressors and short-barrel firearms from the purview of the National Firearms Act was rejected by the Democrat Senate Parliamentarian. That\u2019s because the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2025\/07\/reconciliation-bill-passes-making-tax-stamps-for-sbrs-sbs-and-suppressors-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"34ae4e06dae47e268c46e71601a98c47\">rebuff<\/a>\u00a0was not overruled by Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune with administration backing by Vice President\/President of the Senate JD Vance.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, despite previously using procedural tricks to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/5312952-thune-creates-procedure-ev-mandate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"4d55eea5d84b6099146980037c6c60dc\">get around the Parliamentarian<\/a>\u00a0on California\u2019s electric vehicle mandate, Republicans allowed the NFA ruling to stand, settling for no fees but leaving the registration requirement intact. And sentiments from some disgusted gun owners, feeling like they\u2019d been sold a bill of goods \u2014 including by \u201cgun rights leaders\u201d portraying GOP fecklessness as the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/waronguns.com\/next-best-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"341c537cac8c78c77d312ea3d9ef2b7c\">next best win<\/a>\u201d \u2014 indicate receptivity to a third-party alternative at a time when critical midterms are fast approaching.<\/p>\n<p>One prominent influencer went so far as to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6Xek41Jac-E?si=yR6KMNurVLOEIMhp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"305d327c78513d2a89dea85461c0eaed\">equate the \u201cgreat victory\u201d with D-Day<\/a>\u00a0(disregarding that over 100,000 American soldiers were killed in action in the European theater after the Normandy invasion up to the end of the war in Europe).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rng19IQl4a4&amp;lc=UgzFdkLBglQvUbkdCXl4AaABAg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"c04080fda97ec4db2b0fc4bcc4c4f0cc\">One of the best rebuttals is in a comment by NRA Board reform member Dennis Fusaro<\/a>, with this perceptive observation that too few are making:<\/p>\n<div class=\"ai-viewport-1\" data-insertion-position=\"prepend\" data-selector=\".ai-insert-8-62012046\" data-insertion-no-dbg=\"\" data-code=\"PGRpdiBjbGFzcz0nY29kZS1ibG9jayBjb2RlLWJsb2NrLTgnIHN0eWxlPSdtYXJnaW46IDhweCBhdXRvOyB0ZXh0LWFsaWduOiBjZW50ZXI7IGRpc3BsYXk6IGJsb2NrOyBjbGVhcjogYm90aDsnPgo8IS0tIC8yMjcwMjk5MTMwMS9BbW1vbGFuZC9BTF9Jbi1Db250ZW50X0Rlc2t0b3AgLS0+CjxkaXYgaWQ9J2Rpdi1ncHQtYWQtMTc0OTUzODM2NjUxNy0wJyBzdHlsZT0nbWluLXdpZHRoOiA2NDBweDsgbWluLWhlaWdodDogNDgwcHg7Jz4KICA8c2NyaXB0PgogICAgZ29vZ2xldGFnLmNtZC5wdXNoKGZ1bmN0aW9uKCkgeyBnb29nbGV0YWcuZGlzcGxheSgnZGl2LWdwdC1hZC0xNzQ5NTM4MzY2NTE3LTAnKTsgfSk7CiAgPC9zY3JpcHQ+CjwvZGl2PjwvZGl2Pgo=\" data-block=\"8\">\n<blockquote><p>\u201c[W]hat was lost was the opportunity to build grassroots political power and an outside movement that tells the politicians what they must do for us. And that is the winning long-term strategy. It was the opportunity to educate the Republicans\u00a0 \u2013 \u2018our friends\u2019 \u2013 how to behave, but now instead the Republicans have ended up educating us how to behave telling us what we must settle for in terms of policy.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"ai-viewport-1\" data-insertion-position=\"prepend\" data-selector=\".ai-insert-8-62012046\" data-insertion-no-dbg=\"\" data-code=\"PGRpdiBjbGFzcz0nY29kZS1ibG9jayBjb2RlLWJsb2NrLTgnIHN0eWxlPSdtYXJnaW46IDhweCBhdXRvOyB0ZXh0LWFsaWduOiBjZW50ZXI7IGRpc3BsYXk6IGJsb2NrOyBjbGVhcjogYm90aDsnPgo8IS0tIC8yMjcwMjk5MTMwMS9BbW1vbGFuZC9BTF9Jbi1Db250ZW50X0Rlc2t0b3AgLS0+CjxkaXYgaWQ9J2Rpdi1ncHQtYWQtMTc0OTUzODM2NjUxNy0wJyBzdHlsZT0nbWluLXdpZHRoOiA2NDBweDsgbWluLWhlaWdodDogNDgwcHg7Jz4KICA8c2NyaXB0PgogICAgZ29vZ2xldGFnLmNtZC5wdXNoKGZ1bmN0aW9uKCkgeyBnb29nbGV0YWcuZGlzcGxheSgnZGl2LWdwdC1hZC0xNzQ5NTM4MzY2NTE3LTAnKTsgfSk7CiAgPC9zY3JpcHQ+CjwvZGl2PjwvZGl2Pgo=\" data-block=\"8\">\n<p>It\u2019s a small comfort to many that the fight can continue on in court, especially noting how many judges are in-your-face Democrat obstructionists, how often the Supreme Court punts or ducks infringements altogether, how often Republicans snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and how awful Democrats can be and still get voted for.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a right delayed is a right denied.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So, it\u2019s understandable that Elon Musk is attracting some gun owners to turn their backs on self-serving poltroons who continually let them down. But doing so demands an answer to a question: Is it really in their interests to split the gun vote, and will a third-party effort play into the hands of the Democrats, who we know are all about citizen disarmament and just\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2019\/02\/of-course-theyre-talking-about-taking-your-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"5772e4eb7482d0be30bf3d46eb2d272a\">lack the votes to go all in<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Second Amendment is sacred,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1942002358830997796\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"d01d18f1481c43ae578846128247ef0b\">Musk promised<\/a>\u00a0when asked how his America party will regard the right to keep and bear arms. Agreed, but\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2024\/12\/if-youre-really-for-free-speech-then-free-the-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"44920167674c9332c13c54deef89b279\">what does he mean<\/a>, and how and when will he answer a replying question\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FenixAmmunition\/status\/1942049219365212251\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"8e786bb2362693a5c53a847a1a40acf8\">posed by FeniX Ammunition<\/a>?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cActions speak louder than words, Elon. Either allow gun companies to advertise on\u00a0<em>X<\/em>, or, stop pretending you actually believe it\u2019s a sacred right.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s not unfair to keep in mind a rather standard line gun owners have heard from the politically ambitious before, generally right before they\u2019re about to be swindled:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI believe in the Second Amendment\u00a0<em>but<\/em>\u2026\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>All we have to determine what Musk believes are his own words, and they don\u2019t exactly scream, \u201cShall not be infringed.\u201d From my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firearmsnews.com\/editorial\/gun-owners-find-no-angel-in-elon-musk\/460235\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"2074ddfaf83d6db6725dc13f5d4e05cd\">June 2022\u00a0<em>Firearms News<\/em>\u00a0report<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cHe said in emails to CNBC on Wednesday that he supports \u2018tight background checks\u2019 for all gun sales and limiting sales of assault weapons to people in special circumstances, like gun range owners, or people who live in a \u2018high risk location, like gang warfare,\u2019\u201d CNBC elaborated. That was followed with a cognitively dissonant statement, or at least one that shows a glimmer of Musk understanding the Second Amendment\u2019s intent.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI strongly believe that the right to bear arms is an important safeguard against potential tyranny of government,\u201d Musk declared. \u201cHistorically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power did not allow public ownership of guns.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Realizing that, he still wants infringements on those who have the means to resist totalitarian abuses? The next day on Twitter, Musk doubled down.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAssault rifles should at minimum require a special permit, where the recipient is extremely well-vetted imo,\u201d he replied to an inquiry \u201con the AR-15 discussion.\u201d \u201cTo be more precise, I mean any semi-automatic gun with supersonic ammo and a large magazine.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>It doesn\u2019t look like Musk\u2019s America Party will provide the safe haven to jump to that some gun owners are kneejerk responding to (and no, the Libertarian Party, that \u201csupport[s]\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lp.org\/immigrants-benefit-the-united-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"91072eecfd9315fab02e1f6383da30c7\">free and open migration across borders<\/a>\u201d contradicts itself on the Second Amendment with a position that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2022\/11\/schumer-amnesty-exposes-self-defeating-blindness-of-single-issue-gun-owners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"ff4ca6afe112d8ec1ed0d588419da128\">has proven disastrous for gun owner rights<\/a>).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As for what to do and how to vote (or not), that\u2019s for each of us to decide, with the clear understanding that a political win for Democrats will be a real-world loss for gun owners.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can\u2019t forget the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firearmsnews.com\/editorial\/justice-illinois-gun-ban-case\/527033\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"0b807103bf7d0cdcd0dc089acbb37ac2\">actual 2A progress<\/a>\u00a0that has been made with this administration and the importance of controlling judicial nominations, even with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firearmsnews.com\/editorial\/scotus-fails-americans-gun-rights\/525747\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"ae6e8a5537f1dbe04a524f3667207bf6\">the disappointments<\/a>\u00a0some ostensibly \u201cpro-gun\u201d ones have turned out at times to be. Democrats dominating the Senate confirmation process will be catastrophic.<\/p>\n<p>The thought strikes that much of this disconnect between executive promises and legislative performance would have been avoidable if the much ballyhooed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2025\/04\/task-forces-exclusion-of-gun-owner-advocates-means-continuing-doj-disappointments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"18ff4c8d33e2d345c007c1a325a2ad80\">Second Amendment Task Force<\/a>\u201d included gun owner representative members weighing in on priorities so that the President, who is in effect the \u00a0head of the Party, could make his expectations to Republicans in Congress clear. That it doesn\u2019t, he hasn\u2019t, and none of the gun groups repeating the \u201cnext best win\u201d mantra have demanded a seat at the table won\u2019t cut it.<\/p>\n<p>If the GOP doesn\u2019t want Musk\u2019s America Party to act as a spoiler by attracting \u00a0a critical mass of the disaffected, Pam Bondi\u2019s DOJ will need to more actively join with gun owners against infringements. She could start by arguing, as Bill Cawthon of the \u00a0Second Amendment Society of Texas\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2025\/07\/gaming-the-national-firearms-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"e813fc66ee8c58383b0abd9b3dfc25ce\">has observed<\/a>, \u201cthat the remaining requirements for registration violate the Firearm Owners Protection Act, signed into law by Ronald Reagan in 1986. It includes a blanket prohibition on the creation of a federal registry of guns or gun owners. The NFA has survived this prohibition only because it is a tax.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whether that will be enough to stem a midterm exodus to a new party is something each of us will decide when we vote, or in the case of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acronyms.thefreedictionary.com\/TINVOWOOT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"4e846dd7c3b3f4f05d433f5ef9f82fe7\">TINVOWOOTers<\/a>, if we vote.
