August Gun Sales Climb Back Over the 1 Million Mark.<\/a><\/p>\n

After the\u00a0first monthly sales dip below 1 million<\/a>\u00a0in over five years last month, August gun sales popped back up of the million threshold. August\u2019s total of 1.09 million gun sold, however, was a 9.9 percent decrease over the August 2024 total.<\/p>\n

NSSF is encouraged to see the adjusted NICS background checks top 1 million in the month August once again. We know there is a strong and continued interest in lawful firearm ownership and these figures bear out the truth that Second Amendment rights are valued. These figures are more than data points. They represent Americans from all walks of life who are, quite literally, investing in their safety, security and freedom.<\/em><\/p>\n

The\u00a0August 2025 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System<\/strong>\u00a0(NICS) figure of\u00a01,091,342<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>is a decrease of 9.9\u00a0<\/strong>percent<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>compared to the\u00a0<\/b>August 2024 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b>of\u00a01,<\/strong>\u00a0210,995.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

For comparison, the unadjusted August 2025 FBI NICS figure 1,743,509 reflects a 19.4% percent decrease from the unadjusted FBI NICS figure of 2,163,540 in August 2024.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
