{"id":113863,"date":"2025-12-13T12:49:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T18:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=113863"},"modified":"2025-12-13T12:49:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T18:49:17","slug":"113863","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=113863","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is the easily discredited (as all Marxist ideas)&#8221;Labor Theory of Value&#8221;<br \/>\nRobert Heinlein illuminated this in <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Starship Troopers:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Of course, the Marxian definition of value is ridiculous. <strong>All the work one cares to add will not turn a mud pie into an apple tart; it remains a mud pie,\u00a0 \u00a0 <em>value zero.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">By corollary, <strong>unskillful work can easily subtract value; an untalented cook can turn wholesome dough and fresh green apples, valuable already, into an inedible mess,\u00a0 \u00a0 <em>value zero. <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Conversely, a great chef can fashion of those same materials a confection of greater value than a commonplace apple tart, with no more effort than an ordinary cook uses to prepare an ordinary sweet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These kitchen illustrations demolish the Marxian theory of value &#8212; the fallacy from which the entire magnificent fraud of communism derives &#8212; and to illustrate the truth of the common-sense definition as measured in terms of use.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article\/asu-professor-calls-traditional-grading-racist-suggests-labor-based-grading-instead\/18426\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0ASU professor calls traditional grading racist, suggests \u2018labor-based grading\u2019 instead<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Arizona State University professor\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cisa.asu.edu\/node\/7955\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Asao Inoue<\/a>\u00a0recently ranted about \u201cWhite language supremacy in writing classrooms,\u201d during which he called for abolishing traditional grading in favor of \u201clabor-based grading.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latter method scores assignments based on the amount of effort students put towards in the work, devaluing quality and accuracy in the grading.<\/p>\n<p>During Nov. 5\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.utk.edu\/event\/asao_inoue_talk#.YY59EU7MI2x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lecture<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Tennessee titled \u201cThe Possibilities of Antiracist Writing Assessment Ecologies\u201d, Inoue claimed that \u201cWhite language supremacy in writing classrooms is due to the uneven and diverse linguistic legacies that everyone inherits, and the racialized white discourses that are used as standards, which give privilege to those students who embody those habits of white language already\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In order to rid the classroom of the \u201cHabits of White Language\u201d, Inoue advocated for grading to be based on the time spent on assignments, a move he claims \u201cstructurally changes everyone\u2019s relationship to dominant standards of English that come from elite, masculine, heteronormative, ableist, white racial groups of speakers,\u201d\u00a0<em>The College Fix<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/to-combat-racism-professor-urges-peers-to-embrace-labor-based-grading\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Inoue paused several times throughout the speech, according to <em>The College Fix,<\/em>\u00a0to allow the audience to practice being \u201canti-racist\u201d by observing themselves \u201cparticipating in racism, engaging in white fragility, in white rage, or in white language supremacy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Inoue has spent a considerable amount of time promoting his grading philosophy. As\u00a0<em>Campus Reform<\/em>\u00a0reported in March, he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/campusreform.org\/?id=17079\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0a 358 page book titled\u00a0<em>Labor-Based Grading Contracts: Building Equity and Inclusion in the Compassionate Writing Classroom<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em>Campus Reform<\/em>\u00a0also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article?id=18132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>\u00a0on his keynote speech at an \u201cAntiracist Teaching\u201d conference just last month where he espoused the same talking points.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. James Lindsay, founder of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newdiscourses.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>New Discourses<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and a prominent anti-Critical Race Theory intellectual, condemned Inoue\u2019s remarks as a \u201cterrible approach to education\u201d that is \u201cinformed\u201d by a CRT line of thinking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThese statements reflect a terrible approach to education informed by a Critical Race Theory analysis of grading and assessment,\u201d Lindsay told\u00a0<em>Campus Reform.<\/em>\u00a0\u201cThe objective is to switch to a more subjective method of assessment so that having the right political views matters more than doing good work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lindsay then asserted that Inoue\u2019s proposed grading method would do damage to those it claims to benefit.<\/p>\n<p>He said:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-twitter-extracted-i1765651189289707696=\"true\"><p>\u201d[Inoue] says he wants to assess by how much effort is put in, but this just moves the assessment away from results, which don\u2019t stop mattering because of politics or feelings. Of course, this policy would actually hurt most the people it claims to help because it would lead to giving them good grades for what amounts to failure.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When reached for comment, Inoue suggested it would \u201cbe best for [Smith] to read my past books.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Campus Reform\u00a0<\/em>contacted Arizona State for a statement.
