{"id":115637,"date":"2026-03-13T23:19:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T04:19:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=115637"},"modified":"2026-03-13T23:19:33","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T04:19:33","slug":"115637","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=115637","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/breakthrough-to-strengthen-bones-could-reverse-osteoporosis\">Breakthrough to Strengthen Bones Could Reverse Osteoporosis.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>esearch points to a key bone-strengthening mechanism at work in the body, which could be targeted to treat the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/osteoporosis\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20351968\">bone-weakening disease, osteoporosis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Led by scientists from the University of Leipzig in Germany and Shandong University in China, the 2025 study identified the cell receptor GPR133 (also known as ADGRD1) as being crucial to bone density, via bone-building cells\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Osteoblast\">called osteoblasts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Variations in the <em>GPR133<\/em>\u00a0gene had previously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.celrep.2020.108145\">been linked<\/a> to bone density, leading researchers to turn their attention to the protein it encoded.<\/p>\n<p>The team ran tests on mice in which the gene was either absent or could be activated using a chemical called AP503.<\/p>\n<p>In the absence of the <em>GPR133<\/em>\u00a0gene, the mice grew up with weak bones, resembling the symptoms\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/osteoporosis-is-a-silent-killer-heres-how-to-avoid-it\">of osteoporosis<\/a>.
