{"id":118026,"date":"2026-07-28T15:35:56","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T20:35:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=118026"},"modified":"2026-07-28T15:37:27","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T20:37:27","slug":"118026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=118026","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.libertyparkpress.com\/gun-violence-prevention-the-new-gun-control-camouflage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Gun Violence Prevention\u2019= The New Gun Control Camouflage<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It has been called \u201cgun safety legislation,\u201d \u201cgun reform,\u201d and \u201cgun responsibility,\u201d but it all boils down to the same thing: gun control.<\/p>\n<p>And lately, the gun prohibition lobby and its allies in government from town councils to Congress have been using a new bit of grammatical camouflage to make the same old thing sound more reasonable.<\/p>\n<p>The term is \u201cgun violence prevention.\u201d Wipe away all the fluff and you wind up with the same thing, simply repackaged.<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of a pair of multiple shootings in Minneapolis,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inforum.com\/news\/minnesota\/2-mass-shootings-in-minneapolis-over-the-weekend-fuel-calls-for-gun-violence-prevention\">inforum.com<\/a>\u00a0ran this headline: \u201c2 mass shootings in Minneapolis over the weekend fuel calls for gun violence prevention.\u201d To its credit, the subhead acknowledged, \u201cCalls for gun control continue in the wake of recent shootings ahead of the November election and on the heels of a failed legislative fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other news reports about gun control have not been so candid.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nul.org\/news\/local-leaders-call-designated-gun-violence-prevention-department-chicago\">National Urban League<\/a>\u00a0recently announced plans for Chicago by declaring, \u201cLocal Leaders Call for Designated Gun Violence Prevention Department in Chicago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The story explained, \u201cSome community members and faith leaders believe creating a so-called Department of Gun Violence Prevention could help keep people safe in Chicago.\u201d The Urban League asserted this new agency would \u201csupport community-based solutions and ensure the department exists regardless of who is in City Hall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One familiar name popped up: Father Michael Pfleger. For a man of the cloth, he\u2019s been busy for many years stirring up trouble against local gun stores in Cook County.<\/p>\n<p>Over in Michigan, gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson is saying, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clickondetroit.com\/video\/news\/2026\/07\/17\/jocelyn-benson-calls-gun-violence-prevention-top-priority-in-michigan-governor-race\/\">this video<\/a>, calling \u201cgun violence prevention (a) top priority in\u201d that state\u2019s race. Benson is currently Michigan\u2019s secretary of state, and according to a profile at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jocelyn_Benson\">Wikipedia<\/a>, she\u2019s a member of the Democratic Party and is a former law school dean.<\/p>\n<p>In upper New York,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nys\/buffalo\/news\/2026\/07\/19\/violence-prevention-funding-awarded-to-buffalo--niagara-falls-after-fourth-of-july-weekend-shootings\">Spectrum<\/a>\u00a0reported over the weekend that \u201cLaw enforcement and community groups in the cities of Buffalo and Niagara Falls are receiving state funding after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nys\/buffalo\/news\/2026\/07\/05\/violent-fourth-of-july-overnight-in-city-of-buffalo\">multiple Fourth of July weekend shootings<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the headline, \u201cViolence prevention funding awarded to Buffalo, Niagara Falls after Fourth of July weekend shootings.\u201d The story explains, \u201cThe effort comes as part of the state\u2019s Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) initiative, SNUG Street Outreach program and Project RISE (Respond, Invest, Sustain, Empower). Funding will be administered by the\u00a0state Division of Criminal Justice Services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Ohio state Rep. Darnell T. Brewer, a Cleveland Democrat, quickly reacted to an incident in which a toddler suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound with an unsecured firearm. As a politician, Brewer\u2019s response was to call for another law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRep. Brewer Urges Calls for Immediate Action on Gun Violence Prevention Legislation After Another Ohio Child Shot,\u201d read the headline of his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohiohouse.gov\/members\/heidi-workman\/news\/rep-brewer-urges-calls-for-immediate-action-on-gun-violence-prevention-legislation-after-another-ohio-child-shot-144898\">news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever anti-gunners prefer to call it, their efforts all amount to gun control.
