{"id":119037,"date":"2026-09-30T19:45:46","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T00:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=119037"},"modified":"2026-09-30T19:45:46","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T00:45:46","slug":"119037","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=119037","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2026\/09\/30\/doj-broadens-lawsuit-targets-san-jose-insurance-requirement-for-gun-owners-as-well\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DOJ Broadens Lawsuit, Targets San Jose Insurance Requirement for Gun Owners as Well<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) amended its original complaint against San Jose, California\u2019s concealed carry license fee so as to target the city\u2019s liability insurance requirement for gun owners as well.<\/p>\n<p>Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2026\/09\/17\/doj-sues-san-jose-over-presumptively-unconstitutional-ccw-license-fee\/\">reported<\/a> the DOJ\u2019s initial complaint against San Jose, noting that it centered on the city\u2019s \u201cpresumptively unconstitutional\u201d concealed carry license fee of roughly $1,600.00.<\/p>\n<p>But the DOJ has now amended the complaint so as to go after San Jose\u2019s liability insurance requirement for gun owners, too.<\/p>\n<p>The San Jose Police Department <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sjpd.org\/records\/documents-policies\/gun-harm-reduction-ordinance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">noted<\/a> that the city has a Gun Harm Reduction Ordinance which \u201crequires firearm owners to obtain and maintain liability insurance and pay an annual gun harm reduction fee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ\u2019s amended complaint <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.cand.479057\/gov.uscourts.cand.479057.14.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">lists<\/a> San Jose\u2019s liability insurance requirement and Gun Harm Reduction Ordinance under the heading, \u201cAbusive Fees.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DOJ Broadens Lawsuit, Targets San Jose Insurance Requirement for Gun Owners as Well On Tuesday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) amended its original complaint against San Jose, California\u2019s concealed carry license fee so as to target the city\u2019s liability insurance requirement for gun owners as well.
