That the Asian community still stocks up today shouldn&#8217;t be a surprise.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>While panicked Americans have been purchasing bundles of toilet paper, water and other supplies because of the ongoing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizpacreview.com\/2020\/03\/07\/homemade-hand-sanitizer-recipe-amid-coronavirus-shortage-894948\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">coronavirus outbreak<\/a>, Asian Americans have instead been reportedly stocking up on guns out of a fear of backlash \u2014 and justifiably so.<\/p>\n<p>The panic is especially prominent along the liberal coasts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]here\u2019s an acute fear among Asian-Americans that the virus\u2019s origins in China will spark a violent xenophobic backlash. Along the West Coast, where the worst outbreaks of coronavirus in the United States have occurred, those fears seem to be spurring a surge in gun sales,\u201d\u00a0The Trace, a far-left outlet,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrace.org\/2020\/03\/coronavirus-gun-sales-washington-california-asian-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>\u00a0Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are panicking because they don\u2019t feel secure,\u201d David Liu, the Chinese American owner of Los Angeles\u2019 Arcadia Firearm and Safety, said. \u201cThey worry about a riot or maybe that people will start to target the Chinese.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Asian-Americans stock up on guns over fears of coronavirus backlash &#8216;Roof Koreans&#8217; isn&#8217;t just a meme.
