According to one report, gun sales have dramatically increased.<\/p>\n

And what\u2019s more, so have gun sales to first-time buyers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve sold 12 handguns in two hours,\u201d Gabriel Vaughn of Sportman\u2019s Arms in Petaluma, California, told\u00a0KTVU<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople that tell me that they don\u2019t like guns, but they\u2019re here to begrudgingly buy one,\u201d Vaughn said. \u201cIf it makes somebody feel safe, sure, and they\u2019re legal to own one, then sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ammunition sales are also spiking. According to\u00a0Yahoo Finance<\/a>, sales at Ammo.com are up by 68 percent. Alex Horsman, Ammo.com\u2019s marketing manager, knows why.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know certain things impact ammo sales, mostly political events or economic instability when people feel their rights may end up infringed,\u201d Horsman said. \u201cBut this is our first experience with a virus leading to such a boost in sales.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of our customers like to be prepared. And for many of them, it\u2019s not just face masks and Theraflu. It\u2019s knowing that no matter what happens, they can keep themselves and their families safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Exactly.<\/p>\n

Sometimes it takes a crisis that puts everyone at risk for folks to rediscover fundamental moral values \u2014 like having the means to protect themselves and others.<\/p>\n

These values are so intrinsic to our humanity that they made their way into America\u2019s founding documents, namely the Constitution.<\/p>\n

Under uncertain, stressful conditions, plenty of folks come to a conclusion they might not have reached otherwise: It\u2019s best not to take chances.<\/p>\n
