{"id":48930,"date":"2020-04-09T11:17:08","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T16:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=48930"},"modified":"2020-04-09T11:17:48","modified_gmt":"2020-04-09T16:17:48","slug":"48930","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=48930","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-04-09\/fauci-says-u-s-virus-deaths-may-be-60-000-halving-projections\">Fauci [head National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)] Says U.S. Virus Deaths May Be 60,000, Half of Projections.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of President Donald Trump\u2019s top medical advisers slashed projections for U.S. coronavirus deaths on Thursday, saying that only about 60,000 people may die &#8212; almost half as many as the White House estimated a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>The falling projection, the result of aggressive social distancing behaviors Americans adopted to curb the spread of the virus, may accelerate Trump\u2019s effort to develop a plan to urge Americans to leave their homes and return to work next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real data are telling us it is highly likely we are having a definite positive effect by the mitigation things that we\u2019re doing, this physical separation,\u201d Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told NBC in an\u00a0<a title=\"Full interview\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TODAYshow\/status\/1248213679876845568\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe we are going to see a downturn in that, and it looks more like the 60,000, than the 100,000 to 200,000\u201d projected fatalities, he said. \u201cBut having said that, we better be careful that we don\u2019t say: \u2018OK, we\u2019re doing so well we could pull back.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"birx-projections\">Birx Projections<\/h3>\n<p>Deborah Birx, the State Department immunologist advising the White House\u2019s coronavirus task force, projected March 31 that as many as 240,000 Americans\u00a0<a title=\"As Many as 200,000 Could Die in U.S. Outbreak, Birx Says\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-03-31\/as-many-as-200-000-could-die-in-u-s-outbreak-birx-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">could die<\/a>\u00a0as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, even with another 30 days of stringent public health restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>That analysis caused Trump to retreat from ambitions to urge Americans back to work by Easter.
