{"id":51240,"date":"2020-04-16T12:47:48","date_gmt":"2020-04-16T17:47:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=51240"},"modified":"2020-04-16T12:47:48","modified_gmt":"2020-04-16T17:47:48","slug":"51240","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=51240","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Come onnnnnnn <em>Warp Drive<\/em>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/news\/new-habitable-earth-size-planet-located-300-years-away\/\">New Earth-size planet discovered 300 light-years away could support life<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A new, Earth-size exoplanet has been discovered in old data from NASA\u2019s Kepler space telescope \u2014 and scientists say this world has the potential to support life.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The rocky exoplanet, known as Kepler-1649c, is only 1.06 times larger than Earth and is located about 300 light-years away, according to a new study released Wednesday in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.3847\/2041-8213\/ab84e5\">The Astrophysical Journal Letters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Out of all the exoplanets found by the now-retired\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/cool-tech\/kepler-telescope-last-light\/\">Kepler space telescope<\/a>, Kepler-1649c is the closest to our planet in size and estimated temperature.<\/p>\n<p>The exoplanet orbits a red dwarf star within the so-called \u201chabitable zone,\u201d the area of space around a star in which liquid water could exist on a rocky world.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers initially missed the planet when their computer algorithm misidentified it as a \u201cfalse positive\u201d while looking for planets in past Kepler space telescope observations. After double-checking the algorithm, scientists realized Kepler-1649c was, in fact, another world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut of all the mislabeled planets we\u2019ve recovered, this one\u2019s particularly exciting,\u201d said Andrew Vanderburg, a researcher at the University of Texas at Austin and an author on the study.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Come onnnnnnn Warp Drive.
