Ruth Marcus, WaPo Columnist Who Wrote A Book About Brett Kavanaugh Now Says #BelieveAllWomen Is \u2018Dumb\u2019 Given Accusations Against Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus, who wrote a book about sexual assault accusations made against now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and defended Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in the pages of her newspaper, now says the \u201c#BelieveAllWomen\u201d and \u201c#MeToo\u201d movement are \u201cdumb\u201d \u2014 because a similar, but credible sexual assault allegation has been leveled against the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n In a\u00a0shocking editorial for The Washington Post<\/a>, Marcus lashes out not just at Biden\u2019s alleged accuser, Tara Reade \u2014 who has now filed a criminal complaint against Biden and who has a record of contemporaneous claims made against the then-federal legislator \u2014 but at the anti-sexual assault movement altogether.<\/p>\n \u201cReflexive acceptance of any and all allegations of sexual misconduct against any man is not staunch feminism,\u201d Marcus writes. \u201c[I]t is dangerous credulity that risks doing terrible injustice to the accused.\u00a0<\/span>#BelieveAllWomen<\/span><\/span>\u00a0was a dumb hashtag and a dumber approach.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Reade, she says, is not telling the truth.<\/p>\n \u201cThis column represents a good-faith effort to grapple with the seriousness of, and flaws in, the Reade allegations,\u201d Meade writes. \u201cMy conclusion is that while Ford\u2019s allegations are on balance stronger, those who took Ford\u2019s complaints seriously cannot simply dismiss Reade\u2019s claims out of hand.
