{"id":53231,"date":"2020-04-22T14:23:42","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T19:23:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=53231"},"modified":"2020-04-22T14:23:42","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T19:23:42","slug":"53231","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=53231","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dbdailyupdate.com\/index.php\/2020\/04\/22\/nih-pans-hydroxychloroquine-sets-up-multiple-new-media-narratives\/\">NIH Pans Hydroxychloroquine, Sets Up Multiple New Media Narratives<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yet another highly-predictable outcome. \u2013 Late Tuesday, a panel of \u201cexperts\u201d \u2013 the same kind of \u201cexperts\u201d who assured us just a month ago that the Wuhan Virus would kill 2 million Americans \u2013 announced their disapproval for hydroxychloroquine in combination with axithromycin as a treatment for the Wuhan Virus.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an excerpt from an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/coronavirus-live-updates\/2020\/04\/21\/840341224\/nih-panel-recommends-against-drug-combination-trump-has-promoted-for-covid-19?utm_campaign=storyshare&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_medium=social\">NPR report on the matter<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A panel of experts convened by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/covid19treatmentguidelines.nih.gov\/\">recommends against\u00a0<\/a>doctors using a combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin for the treatment of COVID-19 patients because of potential toxicities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin was associated with QTc prolongation in patients with COVID-19,\u201d the panel said.<\/p>\n<p>QTc prolongation increases the risk of sudden cardiac death.<\/p>\n<p>The recommendation against their combined use would\u00a0<strong>seem to fly in the face of comments made by President Trump suggesting the combination might be helpful<\/strong>. On March 21, for example, the president described them in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1241367239900778501?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1241367239900778501&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Flegacy.npr.org%2Ftemplates%2Fpreview%2FtwitterPreview.php%3FtweetId%3D1241367239900778501%26hideMedia%3Dtrue\">tweet\u00a0<\/a>as having a \u201creal chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[End]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>In English, the QTc prolongation means that HCQ can be dangerous for people who suffer from irregular heartbeats, an affliction most common among seniors, who are already vulnerable to the virus.
