{"id":57831,"date":"2020-08-05T23:07:21","date_gmt":"2020-08-06T04:07:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=57831"},"modified":"2020-08-05T23:07:21","modified_gmt":"2020-08-06T04:07:21","slug":"57831","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=57831","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you believe it was &#8216;accidentally&#8217;, I&#8217;ve got a bridge in New York to sell you.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-gb\/money\/technology\/google-accidentally-enables-home-smart-speakers-to-listen-in-to-everyday-house-sounds\/ar-BB17yg7I\">Google accidentally enables Home smart speakers to listen in to everyday house sounds<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Google accidentally enabled a feature for Google Home users which let the smart speaker listen to the sounds of objects in your house.<\/p>\n<p>A user on Reddit spotted a notification on his phone from his smart speaker which alerted him to the fact his smoke alarm was going off while he was cooking.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, Google Home devices only respond to its active \u2018wake words\u2019 \u2013 such as \u201cOk, Google\u201d or \u201cHey, Google\u201d \u2013 but in this instance the speaker was listening out to a passive sound and make \u201cmy dumb smoke detectors smart,\u201d the Reddit user wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Other users reported getting alerts for the sound of glass breaking, popped bubble wrap, an air compressor tank, and other high-pitched noises that sound like alarms.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to Protocol, a Google spokesperson said that the feature was accidentally enabled through a recent software update<strong><em> which has now been reversed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Suuuuure it has.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you believe it was &#8216;accidentally&#8217;, I&#8217;ve got a bridge in New York to sell you.
