Mazie Hirono\u2019s comments<\/a>\u00a0during the Amy Coney Barrett hearings in a fictional depiction.<\/p>\n<p>The Bee\u2019s CEO Seth Dillon announced the demonetization on Tuesday in a tweet, claiming that the big tech company pulled down the article based on a \u201cregurgitated joke from a Monty Python movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo after a manual review, Facebook says they stand by their decision to pull down this article and demonetize our page. I\u2019m not kidding,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThey say this article \u2018incites violence.\u2019 It\u2019s literally a regurgitated joke from a Monty Python movie!\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&amp;dnt=true&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-0&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1318586466998550529&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2020%2F10%2F20%2Ffacebook-demonetizes-satire-site-babylon-bee-claims-monty-python-spoof-incites-violence%2F&amp;siteScreenName=FDRLST&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1318586466998550529\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dillon pointed out the absurdity of Facebook\u2019s critique.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn what universe does a fictional quote as part of an obvious joke constitute a genuine incitement to violence?\u201d he asked. \u201cHow does context not come into play here? They\u2019re asking us to edit the article and not speak publicly about internal content reviews. Oops, did I just tweet this?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The article, headlined \u201cSenator Hirono Demands ACB Be Weighed Against A Duck To See If She Is A Witch,\u201d uses humor to suggest a fictional depiction of Hirono thinks Barrett is a witch and should be weighed against a duck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to being a Senator, I am also quite wise in the ways of science. Everyone knows witches burn because they are made of wood,\u201d the satirical version of Hirono says. \u201cI think I read that somewhere. Wood floats, and so do ducks\u2013 so logically, if Amy Coney Barrett weighs as much as this duck I found in the reflection pool outside, she is a witch and must be burned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The article goes on to describe the obviously fictional and ridiculous response by the fake judiciary committee, claiming that \u201ccongressional aides brought in the bathroom scale from Jerry Nadler\u2019s office,\u201d while \u201cDemocrat senators nodded in solemn approval while the Republicans yelled and pounded on their desks a bunch before pouncing and booking interviews with Tucker Carlson.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Bee has had multiple censorship run-ins with big tech and media companies over their content in the past.<\/p>\n<p>In August, Twitter banned the Bee\u2019s page without warning.<\/p>\n<p>While the big tech company claimed the ban was an accident, the suspension came at the same time Twitter<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/08\/19\/twitter-bans-babylon-bee-then-claims-it-was-an-innocent-mistake\/\">\u00a0purged its site<\/a>\u00a0of \u201cseveral accounts that tend to mock the oppressiveness of woke culture by pretending to espouse extreme versions of leftist ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-1\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&amp;dnt=true&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-1&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1295503102510903297&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2020%2F10%2F20%2Ffacebook-demonetizes-satire-site-babylon-bee-claims-monty-python-spoof-incites-violence%2F&amp;siteScreenName=FDRLST&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1295503102510903297\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Bee has also gone head to head with the so-called fact-checking site Snopes over the content in their articles.<\/p>\n<p>While the Bee operates satirically and even has its own non-satirical news page,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Not_the_Bee\">\u201cNot The Bee,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0which is separate from its comedic content,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/07\/30\/left-wing-fact-checker-snopes-is-trying-to-deplatform-babylon-bee\/\">Snopes regularly issues fact-checks<\/a>\u00a0about their articles, proclaiming them to be false or misleading.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Facebook Demonetizes Satire Site Babylon Bee, Claims Monty Python Spoof \u2018Incites Violence\u2019 Facebook is demonetizing the Christian, political satire page \u201cThe Babylon Bee\u201d after they published an article\u00a0satirizing Sen.
