{"id":63225,"date":"2023-12-24T00:02:02","date_gmt":"2023-12-24T06:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=63225"},"modified":"2023-12-24T05:46:58","modified_gmt":"2023-12-24T11:46:58","slug":"63225","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=63225","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Christmas Eve, 1968 while in orbit around the Moon, the crew of Apollo 8; Jim Lovell, Frank Borman and Bill Anders, on live TV, recited the opening verses of the King James Version of the book of Genesis.<br \/>\nIt was, and is still the most watched TV broadcast in history.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote>\n<dl>\n<dt><em><b>Bill Anders<\/b><\/em><\/dt>\n<dd><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are now approaching lunar sunrise, and for all the people back on Earth, the crew of Apollo 8 has a message that we would like to send to you.<\/span><\/strong><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I<strong>n the beginning\u00a0God\u00a0created the heaven and the earth.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<dl>\n<dt><em><b>Jim Lovell<\/b><\/em><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<dl>\n<dt><em><b>Frank Borman<\/b><\/em><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<dl>\n<dd><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>And from the crew of Apollo 8, we close with good night, good luck, a\u00a0Merry Christmas, and God bless all of you, all of you on the good Earth.<\/strong><\/span><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This was not done on the spur of the moment, as it was decided long before launch that a Christmas message would be sent to Earth from Lunar orbit.
