Mitch McConnell\u2019s comments after Trump\u2019s acquittal. As Bonchie covered earlier, McConnell said that \u201cPresident Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day,\u201d and that Trump is \u201cstill liable for everything he did during his period in office.\u201d When he was specifically asked whether he was surprised to hear such a serious rebuke from the leader of the Republican party in the Senate, van der Veen\u2019s expression, tone, and words said it all.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I\u2019m not surprised to hear a politician say anything at all. No.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Crickets. The CBS News anchor, Lana Zak, wasn\u2019t quite sure what to make of the reply. She decided to move forward and attempt to \u201cgotcha\u201d van der Veen, and it doesn\u2019t go well for her at all. This, like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/sister-toldjah\/2021\/02\/12\/trumps-team-brings-receipts-eviscerates-dems-with-their-own-words-during-impeachment-hearing-watch-n326077\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Friday\u2019s supercut<\/a>\u00a0of Democrats inciting violence, is a must-watch clip for two reasons: one, it\u2019s rare that someone so articulately calls out the media, and two, it\u2019s rare that the media have a guest they\u2019re afraid to just cut off as they speak \u201ctheir truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">MVDV just destroyed the entire media in this clip. You argued first of all that there was no insurrection, but during your closing arguments you seemingly admitted that there was, in fact, an insurrection, using that word, saying that that was not up for debate. What role did the former president play \u2014<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Van der Veen challenged her false premise, which is something not enough guests do. He interrupted her, saying:<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-4\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-300x250_5\" class=\"gpt-ad ad-250 text-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p>No, you didn\u2019t understand the case. I used the word \u201cinsurrection\u201d in my closing argument when quoting the charging documents.<\/p>\n<p>What happened at the Capitol on January 6th is absolutely horrific, but what happened at the Capitol during this trial was not too far away from that.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutors in this case doctored evidence. They did not investigate this case, and when they had to come to the court, or the Senate, to put their case on, because they hadn\u2019t done any investigation, they doctored evidence. It was absolutely shocking\u2026.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Zak seemingly didn\u2019t know what to say, and wanted to follow up on van der Veen\u2019s assertion that the House managers doctored evidence.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>To be clear for our viewers, what you\u2019re talking about now is a checkmark that\u2019s a verification on Twitter that did not exist on that particular tweet, a 2020 that should have actually read 2021, and the selective editing, you say, of the tapes. Is that how \u2014 is that the doctored evidence of what you\u2019re speaking?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At that point, van der Veen is all of us when he lost it on her.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Wait, wait, wait, wait\u2026that\u2019s not enough for you? That\u2019s not enough for you?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Zak indignantly jumped in to argue with him, not believing that he dared to question her.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-4\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-300x250_6\" class=\"gpt-ad ad-250 text-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s not okay to doctor a little bit of evidence. The media has to start telling the right story in this country. The media is trying to divide this country. You are bloodthirsty for ratings, and as such, you\u2019re asking questions now that are already set up with a fact pattern.\u00a0I can\u2019t believe you would ask me a question indicating that it\u2019s alright just to doctor a little bit of evidence. There\u2019s more stuff we uncovered that they doctored, to be frank with you, and maybe that will come out someday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Van der Veen continued, telling Zak that given the evidence and reports that House managers doctored evidence, perhaps journalists should be fairly looking into them.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The media should be looking at that in a square, straight way. When I watch one news, I watch one station and it\u2019s raining. I watch another station at the same time and it\u2019s sunny. Your coverage is so slanted. It\u2019s gotta stop. You guys have to stop and start reporting more like PBS does rather than a TV news show that doesn\u2019t have any journalistic integrity at all. What I\u2019m telling you is that they doctored evidence, and I believe your question says that it\u2019s only a Twitter check here and changing a date there\u2026.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"my-4\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-300x250_7\" class=\"gpt-ad ad-250 text-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Zak was still too stunned to interrupt him.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The media shouldn\u2019t be letting them get away with it, either. I\u2019m tired of the biased media on both sides, left and right. What this country wants, what this country needs, is this country to come together, to take the left and the right and find a middle ground and start responsibly being our public officials, our elected officials\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not a media \u2013 I\u2019m not in front of your cameras all the time, but what I\u2019ve been subjected to this last week \u2013<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Finally, Zak condescendingly interrupted him to tell him she\u2019d given him the opportunity to say what he wanted to say. When van der Veen got to what he had been subjected to this last week \u2014 including his house being vandalized Friday night, the word \u201ctraitor\u201d spray-painted at the head of his driveway with an arrow pointing to his house \u2014 Zak cut him off. he replied:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou don\u2019t want to hear the truth. I\u2019ve got it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Again, Zak said she just wanted to explain for the viewers who didn\u2019t watch all of the hours of the trial and tried to shame him. She winds up the interview by saying, \u201cAll right. Michael van der Veen \u2013\u201d and he replies with, \u201cYep, citizen,\u201d instead of being described as President Trump\u2019s attorney. And then, mic drop. Literally.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-4\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-300x250_8\" class=\"gpt-ad ad-250 text-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>What\u2019s dangerous about Michael van der Veen is that he represents the vast majority of Americans who just want the self-important pundits, journos, \u201cexperts\u201d and politicians in the Acela corridor to stop acting like infants, do their jobs, and let us do ours.<\/p>\n<p><em>(P.S.
