James White (R-Woodville), and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/BillLookup\/Text.aspx?LegSess=87R&amp;Bill=HB1927\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Bill 1927<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0by Rep. Matt Schaefer (R-Tyler),\u00a0<strong>NRA-backed permitless carry proposals that would\u00a0allow law-abiding citizens to carry a handgun without a state-issued License To Carry (LTC).\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0It&#8217;s time for\u00a0Texas to\u00a0join the 20 other states that have legalized this personal protection option!<\/p>\n<p>The existing LTC law would not be repealed under these measures.\u00a0 Criminals who are prohibited from possessing firearms (i.e., felons, fugitives from justice, individuals committed by the courts for mental illness, domestic abusers) would still be barred from carrying guns.\u00a0 This legislation\u00a0would not prevent the enforcement of any laws broken by criminals who misuse firearms.\u00a0 These measures now move to the House Calendars Committee, which will determine if, and when, each\u00a0measure is\u00a0considered by the full House.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Please contact your State Representatives and urge them to PASS PERMITLESS CARRY\u00a0THIS SESSION!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, the committee also voted out\u00a0two additional bills: \u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/BillLookup\/Text.aspx?LegSess=87R&amp;Bill=HB918\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Bill 918<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>by Rep. Ben\u00a0Leman (R-Iola), which lowers the age eligibility requirement for a License To Carry to 18\u00a0for,\u00a0and extends this self-defense option to,\u00a0a person who has obtained\u00a0an active family violence protective order or magistrate\u2019s order of emergency protection; and,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/BillLookup\/Text.aspx?LegSess=87R&amp;Bill=HB1407\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Bill 1407<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0by Rep.
