The electrical grid at the nuclear site crashed a day after the new centrifuges\u00a0were plugged in, an Iranian spokesman\u00a0<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/middle-east\/voa-news-iran\/electrical-problem-strikes-irans-natanz-nuclear-facility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-350095\"><\/span>On Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani unveiled the centrifuges meant for producing enriched uranium, a key component of a nuclear bomb, amid televised fanfare marking the so-called \u201cnational nuclear day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are indications of an Iranian cover up of the incident considering that regime officials and state-run media\u00a0<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/50c3e7f6445ae99def6bdc65fbce6c42\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">did not reveal<\/a>\u00a0further details or the extent of the \u201caccident.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"ErmEs1C0\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1438094929688-2\">Israeli media also contradicted the official Iranian account. \u201cThe incident at Natanz on Sunday morning was not an \u201caccident\u201d and the damage is much graver than what Iran is presenting to the public, the <a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/incident-reported-in-iranian-natanz-nuclear-facility-664792\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jerusalem Post<\/a>\u00a0disclosed.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The incident may have been caused by yet another cyber attack at\u00a0one of Iran\u2019s \u201c<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/middle-east\/voa-news-iran\/electrical-problem-strikes-irans-natanz-nuclear-facility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most secure<\/a>\u201d nuclear sites site. \u201cBased on reports, it seems that the so-called accident was caused by a cyber attack,\u201d the newspaper\u00a0<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/incident-reported-in-iranian-natanz-nuclear-facility-664792\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">added<\/a>. Around 2010, the site was\u00a0<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-iran-nuclear-natanz-idUSKBN2441VY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hit<\/a>\u00a0by malware that destroyed centrifuges and dealt a major blow to Iran\u2019s nuclear ambitions.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Tehran has often pinned the\u00a0<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/50c3e7f6445ae99def6bdc65fbce6c42\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blame<\/a>\u00a0on Israel and the United States for breakdowns and incidents at its nuclear sites. In July 2020, Natanz nuclear enrichment facility\u00a0<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/50c3e7f6445ae99def6bdc65fbce6c42\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suffered<\/a>\u00a0an explosion and fire, triggering further\u00a0<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/50c3e7f6445ae99def6bdc65fbce6c42\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allegations<\/a>\u00a0from Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/middle-east-iran-358384f03b1ef6b65f4264bf9a59a458\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>\u00a0reported the indecent at\u00a0Natanz nuclear site:<\/p>\n<div class=\"8FVKnFyE\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1567704208086-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p>Iran\u2019s Natanz nuclear site suffered a problem Sunday involving its electrical distribution grid just hours after starting up new advanced centrifuges that more quickly enrich uranium, state TV reported.
