{"id":67191,"date":"2021-04-25T12:47:16","date_gmt":"2021-04-25T17:47:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=67191"},"modified":"2021-04-25T12:47:16","modified_gmt":"2021-04-25T17:47:16","slug":"67191","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=67191","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/outline.com\/9peKM6\">Here&#8217;s How Montana Is Protecting Itself from Biden&#8217;s Gun Control Orders<\/a><\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/katiepavlich\/2021\/04\/07\/breaking-white-house-releases-initial-executive-gun-control-actions-n2587575\">gun control executive orders<\/a>\u00a0are bad enough.<\/p>\n<p>He raised even further concerns though when, in announcing these orders,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/mattvespa\/2021\/04\/08\/fact-check-the-left-the-three-big-lies-joe-biden-told-about-guns-today-n2587633\">he claimed that<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;no amendment \u2014 no amendment to the Constitution is absolute&#8230; the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we\u2019re recommending are contrary to the Constitution.&#8221; Americans are understandably concerned then that their Second Amendment rights are at risk.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, Gov. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) on Friday signed into law H.B. 258, which will protect gun owners in Montana from federal gun control laws.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Today, I proudly signed Rep. Hinkle&#8217;s law prohibiting federal overreach into our Second Amendment-protected rights, including any federal ban on firearms.<\/p>\n<p>I will always protect our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/2A?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#2A<\/a>\u00a0right to keep and bear arms.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2xY8DeEtqf\">pic.twitter.com\/2xY8DeEtqf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Governor Greg Gianforte (@GovGianforte)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovGianforte\/status\/1385703250465234946?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 23, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/best-states\/montana\/articles\/2021-04-23\/montana-governor-signs-bill-nullifying-gun-restrictions\">Iris Samuels with AP<\/a>, the legislation &#8220;prohibits state and local law enforcement in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/best-states\/montana\">Montana<\/a>\u00a0from enforcing federal bans on firearms, ammunition and magazines.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As proof that a change in administrations really can make a difference, the former Gov. Steve Bullock had vetoed such legislation multiple times before, Samuels reported, in 2013, 2015, and 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Bullock ran a failed presidential campaign in the Democratic primary and was also defeated by the Republican incumbent, Sen. Steve Daines during his senatorial campaign. As governor, Bullock vetoed a host of Republican measures, another one being\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/leg.mt.gov\/bills\/2019\/AmdHtmS\/SB0354GovVeto.pdf\">born-alive legislation<\/a>, which would require that babies born alive from abortions be provided medical care.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The law is also extremely timely and may be needed more than ever. President Biden has also touted his passing an assault weapons ban, as well as a ban on magazines with more than ten clips of bullets,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/rebeccadowns\/2021\/04\/16\/president-biden-fired-up-as-he-sticks-by-his-support-for-gun-control-legislation-n2588084\">during a press briefing earlier<\/a>\u00a0this month with the Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihide Suga. &#8220;Who in god&#8217;s name needs a weapon that can hold 100 rounds, or 40 rounds, or 20 rounds. It&#8217;s just wrong and I&#8217;m not going to give up until it&#8217;s done,&#8221; he demanded at one point when asked about his priorities for gun control, the first of a very select amount of questions he took.<\/p>\n<p>Other states have passed such gun rights protections, including Alabama and Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas&#8217; Gov. Asa Hutchinson vetoed such legislation, however. The Republican governor had also vetoed legislation which &#8220;restricts &#8216;gender affirming&#8217; chemical or surgical treatments for those under the age of 18, regardless of parental consent,&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/leahbarkoukis\/2021\/04\/07\/carlson-grills-hutchinson-safe-act-n2587506\">as Leah reported earlier this month<\/a>. The legislature managed to override the veto, allowing it to become law, though that didn&#8217;t stop President Donald Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/rebeccadowns\/2021\/04\/08\/trump-savages-gov-who-vetoed-safe-act-byebye-asa-n2587637\">from issuing a statement<\/a>\u00a0in which he called the governor a &#8220;RINO&#8221; and declared &#8220;Bye-bye Asa&#8221; as he endorsed a former press secretary of his, Sarah Huckabee Sanders in her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/leahbarkoukis\/2021\/01\/25\/sarah-sanders-n2583650\">Arkansas gubernatorial campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2021\/04\/19\/bidens-claim-that-gun-owners-support-his-gun-control-proposals\/\">Washington Post fact-check<\/a>\u00a0gave President Biden &#8220;Two Pinocchios&#8221; for his claims which in part included &#8220;The majority of [gun owners] think we should not be selling assault weapons.&#8221; The fact-check pointed out that &#8220;Biden went too far in claiming that a majority of gun owners also support a ban on assault weapons. The White House could not point to a poll that supported the claim, while a recent Post poll found that a narrow majority opposed it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The fact-check also noted that,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1_sQS8N4gMJq1QHww7ymYtubt4q0sU2M_DSnBbI-E9L4\/edit#gid=1573875785\">according to<\/a>\u00a0a 2019 Washington Post-ABC News poll:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;But among gun-owning households, the assault weapons ban did not receive majority support, with only 43 percent supporting it and 53 percent opposing it. By contrast, in non-gun households, 70 percent supported the ban and 27 percent opposed it.<\/p>\n<p>By a margin of 37 percent to 59 percent, gun-owning households also rejected a mandatory buyback of assault weapons.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Fox News&#8217; Brie Stimson reported that &#8220;In Oklahoma, a bill that would designate that state as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/oklahoma-second-amendment-sanctuary-state-bill-heads-to-governors-desk\">Second Amendment &#8220;Sanctuary State&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0is headed for Gov.
