{"id":67397,"date":"2021-04-30T20:19:26","date_gmt":"2021-05-01T01:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=67397"},"modified":"2021-04-30T20:19:26","modified_gmt":"2021-05-01T01:19:26","slug":"67397","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=67397","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tucson.com\/news\/local\/crime-and-courts\/tucson-police-bystander-shoots-kills-man-assaulting-woman-in-parking-lot\/article_870f1864-a938-11eb-a4b1-2f7556e8a871.html\">Bystander shoots, kills man assaulting woman in parking lot<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"lee-article-text first-p\">\n<p>A bystander who police said helped a woman who was being assaulted by her boyfriend shot and killed the man in a bank parking lot Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"tncms-region-article_instory_top\" class=\"tncms-region hidden-print\">\n<div id=\"tncms-block-1935161\" class=\"tncms-block\">\n<section id=\"block-1935161\" class=\"block emphasis-h3   \">\n<div id=\"html-asset-1935161\">\n<div class=\"html-content\">\n<aside class=\"tncms-inline-relcontent tncms-inline-relcontent-bio coronaviruspromo\">Officers were called to a shooting in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot, in the 1700 block of West Valencia Road, just after 7:30 p.m. and located a man with gunshot wounds. Despite first aid, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him as Juan Carlos Velderrain, 32.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lee-article-text\">\n<p>Detectives determined that Velderrain was physically assaulting his girlfriend in the bank&#8217;s parking lot before the shooting. The woman managed to get away from Velderrain and approached a bystander for help. The woman got into the bystander&#8217;s vehicle as Velderrain verbally confronted them, police said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"tncms-region-article_instory_middle\" class=\"tncms-region hidden-print\">During the confrontation, the bystander, an adult male, pulled a handgun and shot Velderrain, police said.<\/div>\n<div class=\"lee-article-text\">\n<p>The woman sustained injuries from the assault, police said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lee-article-text\">\n<p>The bystander was interviewed by police at the scene and no arrests have been made.
