Let\u2019s get it to my desk for signing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Abbott\u2019s tweet followed news that the Texas House and Senate had reached an agreement on the legislation. KXAN\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kxan.com\/news\/texas-politics\/permitless-carry-legislation-a-step-closer-to-reality-as-texas-house-senate-negotiators-reach-agreement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">reported<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cnegotiators\u201d in both chambers had come to an agreement on Thursday. Now all that remains is for the full House and full Senate to vote to accept the bill that emerged from negotiations.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">The constitutional carry legislation, HB 1927, is sponsored by State Rep.\u00a0Matt Schaefer (R-Tyler).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Schaefer commented after House and Senate negotiators came to an agreement, \u201cThe House and Senate conferees have reached an agreement on House Bill 1927, a critical benchmark before this bill reaches Gov. (Greg) Abbott\u2019s desk. By working together, the House and Senate will send Gov. Abbott the strongest Second Amendment legislation in Texas history, and protect the right of law-abiding Texans to carry a handgun as they exercise their God-given right to self-defense and the defense of their families.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">The\u00a0<em>Texas Tribune<\/em>\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2021\/05\/20\/texas-constitutional-carry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">reports<\/a>\u00a0that constitutional carry\u2019s Senate sponsor is State Sen.<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u00a0Charles Schwertner (R-Georgetown).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">On April 28, 2021, Breitbart News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/04\/28\/tx-gov-greg-abbott-says-will-sign-constitutional-carry-bill\/\">pointed out<\/a>\u00a0Gov. Abbott\u2019s pledge to sign constitutional carry legislation if it reaches his desk.
