{"id":68758,"date":"2021-06-06T08:22:30","date_gmt":"2021-06-06T13:22:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=68758"},"modified":"2021-06-06T08:22:30","modified_gmt":"2021-06-06T13:22:30","slug":"68758","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=68758","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox8live.com\/2021\/06\/04\/nopd-no-charges-to-be-filed-against-homeowner-who-shot-killed-alleged-intruder-in-french-quarter\/\">No charges to be filed against homeowner who shot, killed alleged intruder in French Quarter<\/a><\/p>\n<p>NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) &#8211; A suspected home invader is dead after a shooting in the French Quarter, according to the New Orleans Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting happened in the 500 block of Dauphine Street around 7 p.m. on June 3.<\/p>\n<p>According to NOPD, the homeowner heard banging on the door of their house and armed themselves with a gun. The victim entered the house and lunged toward the homeowner, according to police. The homeowner then shot the alleged intruder, who died on scene.<\/p>\n<p>Area residents say crimes like this seem to be happening more and more in their neighborhood, especially as the city starts to reopen and more people visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI walked over to Rouses. The street was blocked off and a guy said a guy got shot,\u201d said French Quarter resident Darrick Akey. \u201cSo unfortunately it didn\u2019t really shock me that much. I hate that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A second French Quarter resident, Dereck \u201cWoody\u201d Terry, calls it unfortunate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean these things happen but again it\u2019s Thursday night at 6 o\u2019clock with a drizzle and you don\u2019t expect something like that to go down,\u201d said Terry. \u201cWe don\u2019t know the real story. Hearing bits and pieces of what happened.
