Does Expanding Gun Access Threaten US Stability?<\/a><\/p>\n Commentators have pointed to the recent uptick in gun violence to push for looser gun laws and greater access to weapons for self-defense.<\/p>\n But the authors of an\u00a0essay collection<\/a>\u00a0published by the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law argue that expanding access to guns will undermine safety, stability and democracy in the U.S.<\/p>\n Titled \u201cProtests, Insurrection and the Second Amendment,\u201d the 13 essays \u201cprobe the complicated relationship between guns and race, policing, domestic violence, and republican government,\u201d writes Brennan Center fellow Eric Ruben.<\/p>\n The Crime Report\u00a0<\/em>spoke with the authors of three essays: Stanford University Law Professor\u00a0John J. Donohue<\/strong>, Duke University Law Professor\u00a0Darrell A. H. Miller<\/strong>\u00a0and Cornell University Law Professor\u00a0Sherry F.
