{"id":69995,"date":"2021-07-22T01:31:05","date_gmt":"2021-07-22T06:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=69995"},"modified":"2021-07-22T01:31:05","modified_gmt":"2021-07-22T06:31:05","slug":"69995","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=69995","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/news-and-politics\/rick-moran\/2021\/07\/21\/mccarthy-pulls-all-republicans-from-riot-commission-after-pelosi-rejects-reps-jordan-and-banks-n1463661\">McCarthy Pulls His Five Republicans From Riot Commission After Pelosi Rejects Conservative Reps<\/a><\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected two of Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy\u2019s five choices to sit on the select committee that will investigate the riot at the Capitol on January 6.<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi said that Ranking Judiciary Committee Member Jim Jordan \u2014 a close ally of Donald Trump \u2014 and Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks cannot be on the committee because they might jeopardize \u201cthe integrity of the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said it with a straight face so I guess she thinks it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, McCarthy threatened to pull all the GOP members from the Committee unless Pelosi changed her mind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee,\u201d Pelosi said in a statement. \u201cThe unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The appointment of Trump supporters would ruin everything. No one is supposed to defend Trump or the Republicans. The GOP members will be present in order to give a patina of \u201cbipartisanship\u201d to the proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/07\/21\/politics\/nancy-pelosi-rejects-republicans-from-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN points<\/a>\u00a0out, because there is one Republican who has agreed to be on the committee \u2014 Liz Cheney \u2014 it will still be \u201cbipartisan.\u201d McCarthy won\u2019t be able to pull her off the committee.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The committee will still have Republican representation from one member: Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump who was one of Pelosi\u2019s eight choices to serve on the committee. Particularly, members expressed outrage with Banks\u2019s statement in which he blamed \u201cthe Left\u2019s authoritarian agenda\u201d for politicizing the committee\u2019s scope. Reports that Jordan had aided then-President Donald Trump in strategizing about how to overturn the election, and the possibility of him testifying before the committee because he spoke to Trump on Jan. 6, made him an unreliable panelist, according to the aide.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Like CNN, the media will claim the proceedings are still \u201cbipartisan\u201d because Cheney \u2014 who was appointed to the committee by Pelosi, not McCarthy \u2014 will continue to serve. It\u2019s one thing to stand up for your beliefs but quite another to actively seek to undermine your own political party.<\/p>\n<p>This is not about impeachment. It\u2019s about the integrity of Congress, which is threatened by this partisan attempt to destroy Trump and the Republican Party.
