{"id":73428,"date":"2021-10-22T11:45:57","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T16:45:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=73428"},"modified":"2021-10-22T11:45:57","modified_gmt":"2021-10-22T16:45:57","slug":"73428","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=73428","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"headline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dispatch.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2021\/10\/20\/ohio-republicans-pass-bill-ban-gun-store-closures-during-emergencies\/6107210001\/?fbclid=IwAR1ps9Hsauhlt1wgFCJb2kxMwjmoZ9qM_UyX6mPUoS63MG_3iURnhGmEjdA\">Ohio Republicans pass bill to ban gun store closures during emergencies<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Republicans in the Ohio Senate passed a bill 23\u00a0to 7 Wednesday that says<a class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dispatch.com\/story\/news\/2021\/10\/06\/ohio-bill-would-ban-gun-store-closures-during-states-emergency\/5989765001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\">\u00a0local governments can&#8217;t close gun stores<\/a>\u00a0or confiscate firearms during riots or other states of emergency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;During the COVID pandemic, it became evident that local, state and federal governments have sweeping powers when it came to emergencies,&#8221;\u00a0Sen. Tim Schaffer, R -Lancaster, said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine carved out an exemption for gun stores in his stay-at-home orders, but other states did not.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;Therefore\u00a0this bill is critical to proactively define the limits of government&#8217;s power to further abuses,&#8221; Schaffer said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><a class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.ohio.gov\/legislation\/legislation-committee-documents?id=GA134-SB-185\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\">Senate Bill 185<\/a>\u00a0would also ban local governments from\u00a0invalidating concealed carry licenses or closing down shooting ranges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Current law allows local governments to prohibit the sale or transportation of &#8220;firearms or other dangerous weapons&#8221; such as crossbows and knives when suppressing a riot or &#8220;when there is a clear and present danger of a riot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">SB 185 would eliminate that provision for everything except\u00a0dynamite and other explosives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">And that&#8217;s a problem for Democrats like Sen.
