Oversimplified? Maybe, but it\u2019s mainly correct.<\/p>\n<p>And it is surely more accurate than proclaiming Thanksgiving to be about murder, greed, and bigotry.<\/p>\n<p>Yet in a weekend segment for \u2014 you guessed it \u2014 what MSNBC called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/cross-connection\/watch\/the-thanksgiving-history-you-ve-never-heard-126741573571\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Thanksgiving history you\u2019ve never heard<\/a>,\u201d a person called Gyasi Ross shouts from a pre-written, Howard Zinn-influenced screed:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truth is that pilgrims did not bring turkey, sweet potato pie or cranberries to Thanksgiving. They could not. They were broke! They were broken! Their hands were out! They were begging! They brought nothing of value. But they got fed! They got schooled! Instead of bringing stuffing and biscuits, those settlers brought genocide and violence. That genocide and violence is still on the menu! And state sponsored violence against Native and black Americans is commonplace!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve heard this before. It\u2019s\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0original.<\/p>\n<p>I am sure Ross knows all this information because he \u2014 a rapper and storyteller from Seattle \u2014 was in the arena 400 years ago for a first-person account.<\/p>\n<p>Ross\u2019 hateful rant reminds us that not only is dangerous revisionist history\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/11\/20\/us\/angry-white-men-trials-blake-cec\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alive and well in left-wing cable news<\/a>, but also, no matter the topic, progressives and their media allies will always change the subject back to their favorites: race and hating America\u2019s founding.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em>, for example, recently informed us, \u201cJust as Native American activists have demanded the removal of Christopher Columbus statues, they have long objected to the popular portrayal of Thanksgiving.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-4\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-300x250_5\" class=\"gpt-ad ad-250 text-center\" data-google-query-id=\"CN_U7Lztr_QCFe3a9QIdUF4CEw\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This crazed essay was written by their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/history\/2021\/11\/04\/thanksgiving-anniversary-wampanoag-indians-pilgrims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">traffic reporter<\/a>, I kid you not!<\/p>\n<p><strong>And yet with 2,500 words, she didn\u2019t tell the paper\u2019s self-loathing readers that Native Americans themselves abhor Thanksgiving or admire political correctness (recall how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/news\/new-poll-finds-that-9-in-10-native-americans-not-offended-by-redskins-name\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">9 in 10 weren\u2019t offended<\/a>\u00a0by the Washington Redskins\u2019 name before white progressives forced a change two years ago), but rather \u201cNative American activists\u201d are angry about Thanksgiving. Activists, by definition, are regularly irate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People are free to hate since we do not live in the left\u2019s beloved socialist regimes where they can be jailed for unpopular views.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But the rest of us should not pay attention to whatever\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/censoring-the-pilgrims-thanksgiving-editorials-vermont-royster-cancel-culture-11637617548\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cancel culture crusade the banal wokesters are onto this week<\/a>. They\u2019re brainwashed, deranged, and unhappy. We Americans prefer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/columnists\/timothyhead\/2021\/11\/23\/this-thanksgiving-lets-be-intentional-about-gratitude-we-still-have-every-reason-to-give-thanks-n2599507\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gratitude in the face of adversity.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanksgiving: The Left Desperately Wants to Cancel the Great American Holiday.
