WaPo Writer Actually Declares Individual Freedom ‘a Key Component of White Supremacy’<\/a><\/p>\n

George Orwell\u2019s \u201c1984\u201d or \u201cAnimal Farm\u201d? Nope. Ray Bradbury\u2019s \u201cFahrenheit 451\u201d? Uh-huh. Some other dystopian novel about life in a future totalitarian America? No way. Straight from the pages of the Washington Post. You know, the \u201cDemocracy Dies in Darkness\u201d guys?<\/strong><\/p>\n

More like \u201cIndividual Freedom and Liberty Dies in the Darkness of the Radical Left.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a WaPo \u201cMade by History\u201d op-ed titled\u00a0The Ottawa Trucker Convoy Is Rooted in Canada\u2019s Settler Colonial History,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0Taylor Dysart, a Ph.D. candidate in the department of history and sociology of science at the University of Pennsylvania, awkwardly argues that \u201cone\u2019s entitlement to freedom is a key component of White supremacy.\u201d<\/em> After carefully dissecting the garble, I was able to get to the root cause.<\/p>\n

Before we begin, unlike the 187,594,632 (and counting) articles about the\u00a0Freedom Convoy<\/a>, totalitarian Canadian Prime Minister\u00a0Justin Trudeau<\/a>, or anything else to do with\u00a0Ottawa<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>my focus will be on \u201cnone of above.\u201d Instead, it will be about the crux of the lunacy of Ms. Dysart and other lunatics who believe as she does, and the unfortunate publishing of said lunacy by a once-proud American institution.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re welcome. Now, on with the show.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, Dysart spends most of her effort blistering the Freedom Convoy and those who support it, including what she calls \u201ccenter-right\u201d and \u201cright-wing\u201d public figures \u2014 the eclectic trio of Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, and Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s our first snippet of Dysart\u2019s drivel, via WaPo:<\/p>\n

While the convoy\u2019s supporters have characterized the protest as a peaceful movement, uninformed by \u201cpolitics, race, religion, or any personal beliefs,\u201d many supporters have been associated with or expressed racist, Islamophobic and white-supremacist views.<\/p>\n

When Tucker Carlson of Fox News interviewed Benjamin J. Dichter, cementing his place among the movement\u2019s leaders, Dichter rambled and likened Canada\u2019s western provinces to \u201ca third-world country,\u201d due, presumably, to immigration.<\/p>\n

In Ottawa, various reports captured maskless protesters brandishing Confederate, Nazi and \u201cTrump 2024\u201d flags.\u00a0Police<\/a>\u00a0have launched dozens of\u00a0criminal investigations<\/a>\u00a0and made at least 20 arrests, including for carrying weapons in a public place and assault.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Again, my focus is not on Ottawa, including the\u00a0Gestapo-like tactics<\/a>\u00a0of police officers on\u00a0horseback<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While I grew tired of the fixation with all-things Ottawa, days ago, I don\u2019t seem to remember seeing any video of Nazis, Islamophobes, white supremacists, or anything other than peaceful protesters. No matter; agenda-driven radical leftists \u2014 and today\u2019s Democrat Party \u2014 now view anyone and everything they oppose through the made-up lens of \u201cbigotry,\u201d \u201cwhite supremacy,\u201d and \u201csystemic racism.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe convoy has surprised onlookers in the United States and Canada,\u201d Dysart said \u2014 and lied. \u201cBoth because of the explicitly racist and violent perspectives of some of the organizers and because the action seems to violate norms of Canadian \u2018politeness.’\u201d Au contraire, she argued, \u201cthe convoy represents the extension of a strain of Canadian history that has long masked itself behind \u2018peacefulness\u2019 or unity\u2019: settler colonialism.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSettler colonialism,\u201d\u00a0defined<\/a>\u00a0in part by Oxford Bibliographies as \u201can ongoing system of power that perpetuates the genocide and repression of indigenous peoples and cultures.\u201d<\/p>\n

And (one of) Dysart\u2019s conclusions? \u201cIt is not incidental that this latest expression of white supremacy is emerging amid a public health crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

One word:\u00a0Insane.<\/em><\/p>\n

Now, the ridiculous crux of Dysart\u2019s woefully misguided effort (emphasis, mine):<\/p>\n

The primarily White supporters of the Freedom Convoy argue that pandemic mandates infringe upon their constitutional rights to freedom.\u00a0The notion of \u201cfreedom\u201d was historically and remains intertwined with Whiteness\u00a0<\/strong>[Slavery in America and around the world begged to differ], as historian\u00a0Tyler Stovall has argued<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The belief that one\u2019s entitlement to freedom is a key component of White supremacy<\/strong>. [Awkward as hell sentence] This explains why the Freedom Convoy members see themselves as entitled to freedom, no matter the public health consequences to those around them<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That\u2019s all I can take, gang. Click on the WaPo link at the top to read the rest of Dysart\u2019s nonsensical connecting of dots that don\u2019t exist, if you must.<\/p>\n

The bottom line:<\/p>\n

Clueless leftist elites like Tayler Dysart, who thrive in the no-longer-hallowed halls of academia, are a dime a dozen. They are relevant only to themselves and their elitist colleagues who live in the same nonsensical world; devoid of facts, reality, or everyday-life experiences. Nothing they say should be taken seriously.<\/p>\n

However, the Washington Post publishing and highlighting the drivel of Ms. Dysart is a different story. It reinforces what we already know about the state of American \u201cjournalism\u201d and the \u201cnews\u201d they choose to print, air, and push.<\/strong><\/p>\n
