{"id":79604,"date":"2022-04-05T00:25:11","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T05:25:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=79604"},"modified":"2022-04-05T00:25:11","modified_gmt":"2022-04-05T05:25:11","slug":"79604","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=79604","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rebelnews.com\/new_study_finds_persistent_cardiac_abnormalities_in_teens_who_experienced_myopericarditis_following_covid-19_vaccination\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Study Finds Persistent Cardiac Abnormalities in Teens Who Experienced Myopericarditis Following COVID-19 Vaccination<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpeds.com\/article\/S0022-3476(22)00282-7\/fulltext#%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new study<\/a>\u00a0published in the\u00a0<em>Journal of Pediatrics<\/em> is shedding light on how long heart abnormalities from COVID-19 vaccine- induced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/myocarditis\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20352539\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">myopericarditis<\/a>\u00a0may last in children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The typically-rare disease, which can lead to sudden death, is a combination of two significant adverse events that can occur after receiving a COVID-19 mRNA injection known as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rebelnews.com\/what_is_mycarditis_what_does_it_have_to_do_with_children\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">myocarditis<\/a>\u00a0(inflammation of the heart), and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rebelnews.com\/trusting_the_experts_leaves_16_year_old_with_pericarditis_and_few_answers_from_healthcare_system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pericarditis<\/a>\u00a0(inflammation of the outer lining of the heart).<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The study, which was conducted at Seattle Children\u2019s Hospital, focused on a cohort of 16 children between the ages 12-17. All 16 patients were diagnosed with myopericarditis within one week of receiving their second Pfizer COVID-19 shot and had experienced chest pains and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/23971063\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">elevated serum troponin<\/a>\u00a0when first seeking treatment.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Patients were monitored for three to eight months after their initial study,\u00a0and despite responding to treatment,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasheart.org\/heart-health\/heart-information-center\/topics\/cardiac-magnetic-resonance-imaging-mri-and-mra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cardiac magnetic resonance<\/a>\u00a0imaging\u00a0demonstrated a \u201cpersistence of abnormal findings\u201d\u00a0 in most patients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Consistent with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/10.1161\/CIR.0000000000000749\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a statement<\/a>\u00a0released by the American Heart Association regarding the risk of sudden cardiac arrest when exercising with heart inflammation, the study&#8217;s participants were restricted from strenuous physical activity upon discharge.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Study Finds Persistent Cardiac Abnormalities in Teens Who Experienced Myopericarditis Following COVID-19 Vaccination A\u00a0new study\u00a0published in the\u00a0Journal of Pediatrics is shedding light on how long heart abnormalities from COVID-19 vaccine- induced myopericarditis\u00a0may last in children.
