Eric Swalwell Deploys More Lies About the Lies He\u2019s Been Telling About Gun Control for Years<\/a><\/p>\n

A repeated ploy of the\u00a0gun<\/a>\u00a0control movement is to loudly proclaim law-abiding Second Amendment supporters are using \u201cscare tactics\u201d while opposing proposed gun\u00a0control.<\/p>\n

U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), the \u201cHoney Pot Congressman<\/a>,\u201d isn\u2019t new to this charade. His record is one of support for strict gun\u00a0control. That includes a failed presidential campaign playing\u00a0second fiddle<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Robert Francis \u201cBeto\u201d O\u2019Rourke<\/a>\u00a0to carry the gun\u00a0control water.<\/p>\n

Rep. Swalwell published an op-ed<\/a>\u00a0in Newsweek and deployed the ruse.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cFor decades, one of the most tried and true scare tactics by the gun\u00a0lobby is that the government\u2014specifically Democrats\u2014are coming for your\u00a0guns<\/a>,\u201d the Congressman wrote. \u201cThese misinformation campaigns have been used for years to scare law-abiding Americans into thinking they are going to be put under government surveillance to confiscate their\u00a0guns<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lies About Lies<\/h3>\n

The thrust of Rep. Swalwell\u2019s anti-Second Amendment screed is that President Joe Biden isn\u2019t interested in confiscating lawfully-owned firearms.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s be crystal clear\u2014the Biden administration has no secret plan to take away your\u00a0guns<\/a>,\u201d he\u00a0claimed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s right, though \u2013 President Biden\u2019s gun\u00a0control plans aren\u2019t secret. They\u2019re very\u00a0public<\/a>\u00a0and repeated\u00a0often<\/a>.<\/p>\n

President Biden has on multiple\u00a0occasions<\/a>\u00a0called the lawful firearm industry\u00a0\u201cthe enemy<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0A major selling point of his gun\u00a0control agenda is that he claims he\u2019s, \u201cthe only one to have taken on the industry and won.\u201d \u201cI\u2019ve done it before and I\u2019ll do it again,\u201d he\u2019s\u00a0said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The president was speaking about his ability to pass a ban on\u00a0Modern Sporting Rifles<\/a>\u00a0(MSRs), which he incorrectly and pejoratively terms as \u201cassault weapons.\u201d President Biden, in the 1990s, when he was in the U.S. Senate, voted to ban America\u2019s most popular selling centerfire semiautomatic rifle. He continues to push for a\u00a0new ban<\/a>\u00a0today on the\u00a0commonly-owned<\/a>\u00a0firearm. He claims the ban will drive down crime, but\u00a0data<\/a>\u00a0from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says the, \u201cAssault Weapons Ban (AWB)\u2026did not reduce crime rates.\u201d In fact, when the ban expired, violent crime rates continued to drop even as MSR ownership skyrocketed to more than\u00a020 million<\/a>\u00a0rifles in circulation.<\/p>\n

The president has also\u00a0repeated his favorite lie<\/a>\u00a0that the firearm industry is \u201cthe only outfit in the country that is immune,\u201d from liability. This lie has been fact-checked into oblivion, with media\u00a0saying<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cGun\u00a0manufacturers can certainly be sued\u2026Biden is wrong to say gun\u00a0manufacturers are alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president lies about his wishes to ban certain lawfully-manufactured and legally-purchased firearms, as well as his wishes to shut down an entire industry that supports the ability of Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights. That would certainly qualify as, \u201ctaking away\u00a0guns<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Twisting Truth<\/h3>\n

Rep. Swalwell would ban MSRs as well and he\u2019s not alone. He\u2019d go even further,\u00a0telling<\/a>\u00a0Fox News\u2019s Tucker Carlson he\u2019d implement a forced government buyback scheme of the firearms and even, \u201ccriminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons.\u201d Rep. Swalwell went so far as to absurdly suggest if Americans still refused to give up their firearms to a government confiscation scheme, the U.S. government would\u00a0use nukes<\/a> against holdouts.<\/p>\n
