{"id":81299,"date":"2022-05-21T19:30:01","date_gmt":"2022-05-22T00:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=81299"},"modified":"2022-05-21T19:30:01","modified_gmt":"2022-05-22T00:30:01","slug":"81299","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=81299","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is what &#8216;Gain of Function&#8217; gets you.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thenationalpulse.com\/2022\/05\/19\/wuhan-lab-journal-publishes-gain-of-function-research\/\">Wuhan Lab Publishes Study Manipulating H7N9 Virus To Be More Lethal.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A scientific journal published by top Wuhan Institute of Virology researchers shared studies appearing to engage in gain-of-function type research, a controversial method of studying pathogens that can increase their lethality.<\/p>\n<p>The Wuhan Institute of Virology is believed to have engaged in the risky form of research regarding bat coronaviruses, as now-deleted\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thenationalpulse.com\/2021\/05\/15\/wuhan-lab-erases-nih-ties-gof-research\/\">webpages<\/a>\u00a0reveal the lab manipulating bat coronaviruses to \u201creplicate efficiently in primary human airway cells and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, the latest edition of the lab\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8922421\/pdf\/main.pdf\">journal<\/a>,\u00a0<em>Virologica Sinica,\u00a0<\/em>appears to contain a similar style of research with the H7N9 virus in chickens and mice. The publication\u2019s Editor-in-Chief is Wuhan\u2019s infamous \u201cbat lady,\u201d Shi\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/journal\/12250\/editors\">Zhengli<\/a>, who is the lab\u2019s premier bat coronavirus researcher and a recipient of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thenationalpulse.com\/2021\/06\/07\/wuhan-researcher-lists-fauci-niaid-grant-on-resume\/\">funds<\/a>\u00a0from Anthony Fauci through Peter Daszak\u2019s EcoHealth Alliance.<\/p>\n<p><em>Virologica Sinica\u00a0<\/em>published the study \u201cCombined Insertion of Basic and Non-basic Amino Acids at Hemagglutinin Cleavage Site of Highly Pathogenic H7N9 Virus Promotes Replication and Pathogenicity in Chickens and Mice\u201d in its most recent edition, published February 2022.<br \/>\nThe paper\u2019s abstract outlines how researchers \u201cgenerated six H7N9 viruses,\u201d analyzing how various amino acids altered the virus\u2019 virulence and infectivity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe characterized the reconstituted viruses in terms of viral replication in avian and mammalian cells, thermostability and acid stability, cleavage efficiency, the virulence in mice, and pathogenicity and transmissibility in chickens,\u201d outlined the study.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe I335V substitution of H7N9 virus enhanced infectivity and transmission in chickens, suggesting that the combination of mutations and insertions of amino acids at the HACS promoted replication and pathogenicity in chickens and mice,\u201d explained researchers.<\/p>\n<p>While the study conducted experiments on mice and chicken, it noted that H7N9 variants are \u201calso highly transmissible in ferrets, posing the threats of pandemic potential in humans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In one case study, the H7N9 variant caused a 35 percent mortality rate in mice, with researchers noting that certain amino acids \u201cincreased the pathogenicity\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Surprisingly, the monobasic mutants (i.e., PEIPKGR\/G) showed clear symptoms of infection, including shaggy hair and abdominal breathing, after the second day of infection, followed by 15% of weight loss compared to the initial weight and death, with a mortality rate of 35%. In addition, each H7N9 viruses can replicate efficiency in lungs of the infected mice PEVPKRKRTAR\/G (P \u00bc 0.0109) significantly increased viral titers in the lungs of mice compared to that of the PEVPKGR\/G group, indicating that the insertion of KRTA increased the pathogenicity of mice.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNotably, we observed that the insertion of non-basic amino acids TA and IA in H7N9 viruses caused death in mice despite having the same viral titer, which suggested that HPAIV H7N9 inserted with a non-basic amino acid posed a potential threat to humans,\u201d added the paper.<\/p>\n<p>The paper follows continued revelations about the Wuhan Institute of Virology\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thenationalpulse.com\/2021\/06\/23\/audio-fauci-funded-researcher-describes-gain-of-function-collaboration-with-wuhan-lab-reveals-nih-was-very-supportive\/\">engaging<\/a>\u00a0in \u201cgain of function\u201d research with U.S. taxpayer funds from Fauci\u2019s National Institutes of Health (NIH) agency.<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"doc_71549\" class=\"scribd_iframe_embed\" title=\"Main\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/embeds\/574937142\/content?start_page=1&amp;view_mode=scroll&amp;access_key=key-ZIvDqT44Xnxr49IA9py2\" width=\"200%\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-auto-height=\"false\" data-aspect-ratio=\"0.75\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is what &#8216;Gain of Function&#8217; gets you.
