Biden Talks of Deer in Kevlar Vests (Again), Floats \u2018Assault Weapons\u2019 Ban<\/a><\/p>\n

President Joe Biden addressed the shooting at Uvalde, Texas, Robb Elementary School, talking again about deer in Kevlar vests and suggesting an \u201cassault weapons\u201d ban.<\/p>\n

Biden began his comments with a soft tone, talking about loss, then he erupted with, \u201cAs a nation, we have to ask when in God\u2019s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby. When in God\u2019s name are we going to do what we all know in our gut needs to be done?\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to claim that there have been \u201c900 incidents of gunfire reported on school grounds\u201d since the December 14, 2012, attack on Sandy Hook Elementary school. He talked of shootings in theaters, churches, and grocery stores.<\/p>\n

Biden said, \u201cAnd don\u2019t tell me we can\u2019t have an impact on this carnage \u2026 When we passed the \u2018assault weapons\u2019 ban, mass shootings went down. When the law expired, mass shootings tripled.\u201d<\/p>\n

He criticized being able to walk into a gun store and buy more than one \u201cassault weapon,\u201d never mentioning that purchases from gun stores require background checks.<\/p>\n

Biden said, \u201cWhat in God\u2019s name do you need an \u2018assault weapon\u2019 for except to kill someone? Deer aren\u2019t running through the forest with Kevlar vests on, for God\u2019s sake.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then criticized the firearm industry, claiming \u201cgun manufacturers have spent two decades aggressively \u2018assault weapons,\u2019 which make them the most and largest profit.\u201d<\/p>\n

He called for Americans to stand up to the firearm industry.<\/p>\n

On March 1, 2022, Breitbart News\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that Biden brought up deer in Kevlar vests during the State of the Union Address.<\/p>\n

He called for a ban on \u201cassault weapons\u201d with \u201chigh-capacity magazines that hold up to 100 rounds,\u201d and asked, \u201cDo you think the deer are wearing Kevlar vests?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
