{"id":83734,"date":"2022-07-23T18:42:48","date_gmt":"2022-07-23T23:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=83734"},"modified":"2022-07-23T18:43:00","modified_gmt":"2022-07-23T23:43:00","slug":"83734","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=83734","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2022\/07\/active-shooter-alert-bill-designed-to-scare-draws-in-gop-traitors-and-suckers\/#axzz7ZrpCQ8Wp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Active Shooter Alert\u2019 Bill, Designed to Scare, Draws in GOP Traitors and Suckers<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cH.R. 6538, the Active Shooter Alert Act of 2022, is not a public safety tool, but rather an anti-gun propaganda program intended to further public hysteria by hyper-inflating the authentic number of \u2018active shooter\u2019 incidents to expand support for unconstitutional gun control measures,\u201d Gun Owners of America advised members in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunowners.org\/na071522\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"7c79a124c6b90d5f3e600038b9bab9a0\">a mid-July alert<\/a>. \u201cUnder the Active Shooter Alert Act of 2022, justified self-defense shootings, gang violence, drug violence, or accidental shootings will be used to send alerts to the American people about the presence of an \u2018active shooter\u2019 to intentionally misguide the public and create mass hysteria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I imagine an uninterrupted night\u2019s sleep would be damn near impossible on an average weekend in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll note whenever GOA uses the term on its own (as opposed to citing what the bill is named) they put the words \u201cactive shooter\u201d in quotation marks. There\u2019s a reason why that\u2019s appropriate, and something gun owners should emulate. Per Firearms Coalition Managing Director and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2016\/12\/meet-jeff-the-confessions-of-a-proud-active-shooter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"384e7806a9a3f2682ad456a8446acd07\">\u201cproud active shooter\u201d Jeff Knox<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt is inaccurate because it does not include any direct suggestion of criminality, using \u2018shooter\u2019 to infer that, and it is insulting because by doing this, it implies that shooting is a criminal activity.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Rep. Thomas Massie describes the bill more bluntly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHouse Democrats are trying to condition Americans to repeal the Second Amendment,\u201d he warns, and he\u2019s not using hyperbole. Any longtime gun owner who doesn\u2019t recognize by now that yes, the prohibitionists really do want to take your guns, is either an oblivious fool or in the enemy camp. (There are also citizens new to owning guns who have never given the matter much thought to see how they\u2019ve been lied to, who are ripe for manipulation and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2022\/02\/diversity-no-guarantee-for-enhancing-second-amendment-recognition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"85b07766ef0ecd2bbc92d2fe8a38ae3f\">the subjects of another analysis<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">House Democrats are trying to condition Americans to repeal the Second Amendment. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MSOdkKbTBO\">pic.twitter.com\/MSOdkKbTBO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Thomas Massie (@RepThomasMassie) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepThomasMassie\/status\/1547355563981524995?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 13, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h3>Two points:<\/h3>\n<p>Repealing the Second Amendment would not invalidate the right to keep and bear arms, which the Supreme Court has recognized, first in\u00a0<em>Cruikshank<\/em>\u00a0and later cited in\u00a0<em>Heller<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThe right to bear arms is not granted by the Constitution; neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Massie knows that. He also knows the Democrats want us to believe rights come from them, using the term \u201cbill of rights\u201d to propose government-mandated privileges that are generally dependent on dragooning (that is, enslaving) others to provide the \u201cgranted\u201d services. (See \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2020\/12\/fdrs-second-bill-of-rights-and-un-declaration-show-how-progressives-view-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"ab9498740b6cb5280da0b9571aff269d\">FDR\u2019s \u2018Second Bill of Rights\u2019 and UN Declaration Show How \u2018Progressives\u2019 View You<\/a>.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>The second point is addressed directly to Donald Trump in the (admittedly improbable) hope that someone who knows him will call it to his attention: Don\u2019t you think it\u2019s past time you to publicly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2020\/04\/trump-attack-on-massie-self-defeating-and-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"5f3a9b8f537d144764b21757d8fe1352\">apologize to Rep. Massie<\/a>\u00a0and admit that he was right for putting the Constitution over GOP Democrat Lite politics?<\/p>\n<p>As for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/6538\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"5c5cdd68e433d24f5838b40f31e8124f\">\u201cActive Shooter\u201d Alert bill<\/a>, it passed in the House of Representatives with 43 \u201cRepublicans\u201d either knowingly signing on with or being suckered in by a confirmed enemy of the Second Amendment, bill sponsor David Cicilline (D-RI). He\u2019s the professional worm tongue who out of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/david-hogg-disrupts-house-hearing-banning-assault-weapons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-uri=\"71fcc6ee103d1e69a1b6889eadb0f3c9\">one corner of his mouth<\/a>\u00a0professes, \u201cWe all respect the Second Amendment\u00a0<em>but<\/em>\u2026\u201d and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/political\/watch-dem-rep-yells-spare-me-bullshit-about-constitutional-rights-during-gun-debate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-uri=\"d753181e8a56920f2dc105b4f3d781d1\">out of the other corner<\/a>\u00a0snarls, \u201cSpare me the bulls*** about Constitutional rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You can find out who the GOP turncoats are via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/clerk.house.gov\/Votes\/2022307\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-uri=\"b7ea21e22fa194d7eb2aae68dfeb5d1d\">the House Clerk\u2019s recorded votes tally<\/a>\u00a0to see if your representative made the Dishonor Roll, either because he\u2019s negligently ignorant, because he\u2019s a proven embedded enemy (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.govtrack.us\/congress\/bills\/117\/hr6538\/cosponsors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-uri=\"99041c15e19a8f3848a692f97504affb\">like the 15 Republican co-sponsors<\/a>\u00a0who have betrayed us before), or because he\u2019s a pandering coward dumb enough to believe this will earn him media props and kudos from \u201cour friends across the aisle\u201d for being reasonable.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, the roll call record is of critical importance. Arguing against the unaccountability of voice votes was one of the concerns Rep. Massie had expressed when Trump unloaded on him, but all gun owners need do to see the danger that poses to them is to recall the words \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/a6Mx2UcSEvQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-uri=\"51a4c9d8dd812f53d4134ddce3a9e13a\">Hughes Amendment<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Say your rep sided with Cicilline, what can you do?<\/h3>\n<p>GOA offers a pre-written letter option to \u201cspank\u201d them and then contact your senators, a strategy that has obvious limitations if your Republican rep is a longtime Quisling who is either not running again or knows he can get away with it from being reelected after past betrayals. Ditto, what\u2019s the use of pleading with them if your senators are known enemies of your rights in secure seats like Dianne Feinstein or Chuck Schumer?<\/p>\n<p>Time and again I\u2019ve seen gun owners in \u201cblue states\u201d just shine such alerts on because they\u2019ve concluded \u2014 in their case \u2014 they\u2019re a waste of time. There ought to be a way to more productively direct such appeals. Since what Congress does affects us all, why shouldn\u2019t mass contact forms instead make our views \u2014 and potential support or opposition \u2014 known to those who are persuadable, but who \u201crepresent\u201d other districts and states? And post it to their widely-viewed social media accounts so that others can see and share?<\/p>\n<p>Another strategy is to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsl.org\/research\/elections-and-campaigns\/2022-state-primary-election-dates-and-filing-deadlines.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-uri=\"487026681ba13c250bee6bde8e49bc79\">\u201cprimary\u201d the Benedict Arnolds<\/a>. Do you know if your state has already held one? If it hasn\u2019t yet, are any of the state and national gun organizations we join and support offering you a way to organize (something the collectivists excel at and we do not) and defeat the backstabbers with a superior candidate?<\/p>\n<p>Then there are those who say \u201cThe hell with the traitors, I\u2019ll stay home or even vote for the commie in the general election and let\u2019s get this show started.\u201d As rash as that sounds, there\u2019s a definite logic to not rewarding betrayals with power, and it\u2019s fair to ask if a gun owner would want to patrol with a squad member who will only back shoot them once in a while or be so forgiving of an occasionally promiscuous spouse who is \u201cfaithful\u201d most of the rest of the time.<\/p>\n<p>But that means a Democrat would win! Yeah, and that would create a real dilemma for them if they followed their (un)natural instincts and went hog wild with ramping up the tyranny, something they always seem to do when they feel they can impose whatever they want.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a dilemma for gun owners, too, we who simply want to be left alone to live lives that aren\u2019t harming anybody and enjoy whatever \u201cBlessings of Liberty\u201d we can earn for ourselves, but see there are powerful interests who not only won\u2019t let us do that, but want to see anyone who thinks like that marginalized and \u201ccanceled\u201d (with the real hardcore who understand history opting for \u201ceradicated.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, in this case, the legislative monitoring site GovTrack gives a prognosis of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.govtrack.us\/congress\/bills\/117\/hr6538\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uri=\"73829a240d4c84fcf3dc086b6d762fe0\">a \u201c3% chance of being enacted,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0so it appears this is more a case of pre-midterms attention-whoring on Cicilline\u2019s part.
