Bloomberg gathers anti-gun mayors to plan post-Bruen moves<\/a><\/p>\n

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has made it his life\u2019s mission to essentially erode the Second Amendment to the point that it means nothing.<\/p>\n

Standing in his way, however, is that whole pesky \u201cconstitutionality\u201d thing.<\/p>\n

The Bruen decision was undoubtedly a major setback for the former mayor and his anti-gun allies. Now, as NSSF\u2019s Larry Keane notes, it seems they\u2019re\u00a0getting together to plan their next step<\/a>\u00a0in attacking our rights.<\/p>\n

Democratic mayors from the largest cities aren\u2019t going to stand idly by and allow the U.S. Supreme Court to reaffirm Americans\u2019 Constitutionally-guaranteed rights.<\/p>\n

Mayors Against Illegal\u00a0Guns\u00a0(MAIG) is the gun\u00a0control\u00a0kitchen cabinet<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0of billionaire Michael Bloomberg,\u00a0ever on his quest<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to deny God-given rights to law-abiding Americans even while he\u00a0enjoys them<\/strong><\/a>. Following the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling in\u00a0Bruen<\/em><\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Bloomberg\u00a0summoned<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0his coterie to New York City.<\/p>\n

Reporting for Duty<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0cattle call<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0included a who\u2019s-who of gun\u00a0control mayors. Many have defunded their police departments, restricted gun\u00a0rights and some have already been rebuffed by courts for misguided local policies.<\/p>\n

Baltimore Democratic Mayor Brandon Scott joined the meeting, as did St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, Little Rock, Ark., Mayor Frank Scott and Buffalo, N.Y.,\u00a0 Mayor Byron Brown. Kansas City\u2019s Mayor Quinton Lucas attended too \u2013 he was just\u00a0named<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u201cGun\u00a0Sense Lawmaker of the Year\u201d by Bloomberg\u2019s Everytown for Gun\u00a0Safety for his participation in a scheme by mayors to sue gun\u00a0manufacturers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Their focus seems to be to use \u201cpublic nuisance\u201d lawsuits to try and punish gun manufacturers for the actions of third parties.<\/p>\n

Likely emboldened by the Remington lawsuit\u2019s results, we\u2019re going to see a lot more such lawsuits, but what they\u2019re forgetting is that this wasn\u2019t Remington who settled. This was an insurance company with no stake in the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n

A lot of gun companies will fight such lawsuits and challenge these efforts right to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

Do Bloomberg and company like their chances there?<\/p>\n

If so, they\u2019re more masochistic than I gave them credit for.<\/p>\n

But until the Court smacks them down, they can do a lot of damage to the firearm industry. Pro-gun legislatures may want to look at how they may be able to curtail such actions by the anti-Second Amendment mayors marching to Bloomberg\u2019s tune. Otherwise, the damage could become incalculable over the long term.<\/p>\n

See, the purpose of the lawsuits isn\u2019t to get restitution for some wrong. It\u2019s extortion. The Bloomberg Bunch are basically saying, \u201cYou do things our way or we sue you into oblivion.\u201d<\/p>\n

After all, Michael Bloomberg has deep pockets, no heirs to worry about, so he can throw his billions at little more than just this. That\u2019s something most gun manufacturers\u00a0can\u2019t<\/em>\u00a0afford to deal with.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s the point.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re threatening these companies to either comply or die. If I did that to you, it\u2019s basically extortion and I\u2019d be thrown in prison for it, as I should be.<\/p>\n

Yet Bloomberg\u2019s efforts are considered perfectly legal.<\/p>\n

Which means we need to dig in and fight back. After all, if Bloomberg gets his way in this, there won\u2019t be any guns to buy, which essentially renders the Second Amendment irrelevant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
