{"id":85784,"date":"2022-09-20T00:13:58","date_gmt":"2022-09-20T05:13:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=85784"},"modified":"2022-09-20T00:13:58","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T05:13:58","slug":"85784","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=85784","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/summit.news\/2022\/09\/19\/crisis-of-crimes-new-orleans-becomes-murder-capital-of-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cCrisis of Crimes\u201d: New Orleans Becomes Murder Capital of America<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Progressives in top city leadership positions have helped transform New Orleans into the murder capital of America.<\/p>\n<p>WSJ reported the Louisiana city on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico, recorded the highest homicide rate of any major city so far this year, with 41 homicides per 100,000 residents.<\/p>\n<p>Metropolitan Crime Commission Inc., a nonprofit that works on crime-reducing strategies in the city, said the homicide rate is up 141% compared with the same period in 2019. It pointed out carjackings are up 210%, shootings 100%, and armed robberies up 25%.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/crime.png?itok=04BqDSS8\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><em>\u201cThe homicide rate is on pace to surpass last year\u2019s rate, which was the worst since Hurricane Katrina in 2005,\u201d WSJ noted.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The city\u2019s alarming spike in the homicide rate comes at the same time as \u201cprogressive prosecutor\u201d Jason Williams became the district attorney of the metro area in early 2021. He promised a \u201cmore selective\u201d approach to prosecutions that goes \u201cbeyond punishment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><em>\u201cBeing more selective about prosecutions will allow us to focus on the crimes that matter most to all of us,\u201d Williams said last year, adding, \u201cWe\u2019ve got to go beyond punishment and invest in our community.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Metropolitan Crime Commission recently said Williams\u2019 criminal justice reforms have resulted in a \u201cdrastic decline in accountability for violent felony offenders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Residents told WSJ an \u201coverwhelmed\u201d police department is a significant factor in the rise in violent crime.<\/p>\n<p>Ronal Serpas, the city\u2019s police superintendent from 2010-14, said the city has about 50% to 60% of officers needed for adequate patrols.<\/p>\n<div id=\"in-article\">\n<div class=\"ad\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infowarsstore.com\/health-and-wellness\/infowars-life\/super-male-vitality\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/api.directus.libertycdn.com\/uploads\/_\/originals\/SuperMale-620-100.png\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><em>\u201cWe\u2019re in a crisis of crime and a crisis of confidence in this city,\u201d Serpas said.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Democratic Mayor LaToya Cantrell warned last month Mardi Gras festivities early next year could be canceled because of the police shortage. Local news Times-Picayune said the police department budgets for 1,500 offices, but its force just fell below 1,000 \u2014 the lowest level in decades.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><em>\u201cIf we don\u2019t have adequate police, it could mean that there will be no Mardi Gras. That\u2019s a fact,\u201d Cantrell said at a community meeting last month.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gQGbg0nJYTA?start=8\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n<p>Violent crime has surged in many liberal-controlled cities, as some believe this is due to failed criminal justice reform policies.<\/p>\n<p>Democrat\u2019s inability to address the crime wave is a failure in policy \u2014 and their lack of accountability will come in the form of no confidence by taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>Remember in June when a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/political\/san-francisco-ousts-soros-backed-uber-progressive-da-recall-vote\">George Soros-backed progressive district attorney<\/a>\u00a0in San Francisco was booted out of office?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAction must be taken NOW if there is ever a chance to save the city and bring the reputation of being a city where tourists can come to party and celebrate and not become victims,\u201d nonprofit New Orleans Police &amp; Justice Foundation, which raises funds to aid police in the city, warned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cCrisis of Crimes\u201d: New Orleans Becomes Murder Capital of America Progressives in top city leadership positions have helped transform New Orleans into the murder capital of America.
