(Das Boot)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dm-uif8SYYs\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2022\/10\/10\/cnn-sounds-alarm-scotus-may-wipe-out-gun-control-nationwide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN Sounds Alarm: SCOTUS May Wipe Out Gun Control \u2018Nationwide\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"subheading\">CNN sounded the alarm Sunday, warning that the pro-Second Amendment makeup of\u00a0 the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) portends an end to gun control \u201cnationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">CNN\u2019s Tierney Sneed\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/10\/09\/politics\/gun-control-second-amendment-supreme-court-bruen-fallout\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">pointed to<\/a>\u00a0the June 23, 2022, SCOTUS decision in\u00a0<em>NYSRPA v. Bruen<\/em>, noting that it not only struck down New York\u2019s proper cause requirement but also set forward stringent rules for how lower courts must decide cases related to the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">On July 1 Breitbart News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2022\/07\/01\/scotus-vacates-assault-weapons-ban-high-capacity-mag-ban\/\">noted<\/a>\u00a0that SCOTUS remanded a number of cases, vacating the decisions and ordering them to be reconsidered in light of\u00a0<em>Bruen<\/em>. The cases centered on an \u201cassault weapons\u201d ban in Maryland, a \u201chigh capacity\u201d magazine ban in California, and carry restrictions in Hawaii, among other things.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Roughly two weeks later Breitbart News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2022\/07\/14\/washington-times-scotus-second-amendment-ruling-puts-all-types-gun-control-crosshairs\/\">pointed to<\/a>\u00a0a\u00a0<em>Washington Times\u00a0<\/em>article suggesting the<em>\u00a0Bruen\u00a0<\/em>decision puts all types of gun control in the crosshairs of gun rights groups.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">The\u00a0<em>Washington\u00a0Times<\/em>\u00a0paraphrased Justice Clarence Thomas\u2019s emphasis on the important of decisions like\u00a0<em>Bruen<\/em>,\u00a0<em>McDonald v. Chicago<\/em>\u00a0(2010), and\u00a0<em>District of Columbia v. Heller<\/em>\u00a0(2008), saying, \u201cThe test courts must apply is whether a firearms restriction would have seemed reasonable to the founding generation that crafted and ratified the\u00a0Second Amendment. If not, the law must give way to the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In light of this framework for testing restrictions, CNN\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/10\/09\/politics\/gun-control-second-amendment-supreme-court-bruen-fallout\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">warns<\/a>\u00a0that gun control in every state is in jeopardy:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">Since the June ruling, federal judges in at least a half-dozen different cases have already cited the <em>Bruen<\/em> decision to rule against gun restrictions that have included local assault weapons bans, prohibitions on the manufacture of homemade firearms and bans on older teenagers publicly carrying handguns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">Several other laws now face new legal challenges under the precedent, among them zoning restrictions barring shooting ranges, licensing and training laws and the federal ban on certain misdemeanor offenders from possessing firearms.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">CNN noted changes that have already occurred in jurisprudence in light of\u00a0<em>Bruen<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">A federal district judge cited the ruling last month\u00a0when halting\u00a0Delaware restrictions on possessing and manufacturing untraceable firearms, saying that the law\u2019s defenders failed to provide persuasive evidence that similar restrictions existed in the historical record. The precedent was also referenced when local assault weapon bans in two Colorado jurisdictions\u00a0were put\u00a0on\u00a0hold\u00a0this summer; the judges in both cases were each appointed by Democratic presidents.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">CNN also noted a decision handed down on Thursday to \u201cpause\u201d new gun controls New York enacted in response to\u00a0<em>Bruen<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">Breitbart News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/06\/judge-issues-temporary-restraining-order-against-new-yorks-new-gun-controls\/\">indicated<\/a>\u00a0the New York controls were paused via a temporary restraining order issued by\u00a0U.S. District Judge Glenn T.
