{"id":86870,"date":"2022-10-20T23:43:07","date_gmt":"2022-10-21T04:43:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=86870"},"modified":"2022-10-20T23:43:07","modified_gmt":"2022-10-21T04:43:07","slug":"86870","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=86870","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.firearmspolicy.org\/fpc-victory-federal-judge-blocks-new-yorks-places-of-worship-handgun-carry-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FPC VICTORY: Federal Judge Blocks New York\u2019s \u201cPlaces of Worship\u201d Handgun Carry Ban<\/a><\/p>\n<p>BUFFALO, NY (October 20,\u00a02022) \u2013 Today, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) announced that United States District Judge John Sinatra, Jr. has issued a temporary restraining order against New York\u2019s ban on guns in \u201cany place of worship or religious observation.\u201d The order in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firearmspolicy.org\/hardaway\"><em>Hardaway v. Bruen<\/em><\/a>, which is effective immediately, can be viewed at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fpclegal.org\/\">FPCLegal.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe Constitution\u00a0<em>requires\u00a0<\/em>that individuals be permitted to use handguns for the core lawful purpose of self-defense,\u201d wrote Judge Sinatra in his opinion. \u201cAnd it protects that right\u00a0<em>outside the home and in public<\/em>. Nothing in the Nation&#8217;s history or traditions presumptively closes the door on that right\u00a0<em>across every place of worship or religious observation<\/em>. As in\u00a0<em>Bruen<\/em>, where the Court stated that, \u2018[n]othing in the Second Amendment&#8217;s text draws a home\/public distinction with respect to the right to keep and bear arms,\u2019 nothing there casts outside of its protection places of worship or religious observation.
