\u2018Roadmap\u2019 Latest \u2018Commonsense\u2019 Ploy to Advance Citizen Disarmament<\/a><\/p>\n

U.S.A. \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0-(Ammoland.com<\/a>)-\u00a0\u00a0The 97percent \u201cgun safety\u201d organization purports to have a plan to reduce \u201cgun violence\u201d that can bring people on both sides of the issue together. In\u00a0Part One<\/a>,\u00a0AmmoLand<\/em>\u00a0looked at a so-called \u201cPolicy Roadmap\u201d put out by the group and examined its three \u201ccore principles.\u201d In\u00a0Part Two<\/a>\u00a0we examined the four policies we\u2019re told promise to dramatically reduce gun-related homicides and suicides.<\/p>\n

Of course, it will do none of that, but instead is just a \u201cnew\u201d tactic to recycle to make old citizen disarmament ideas palatable to a critical mass of low-information Americans amenable to being manipulated by well-funded \u201cgun safety\u201d snake oil salesmen.<\/p>\n

What makes 97percent\u2019s \u201croadmap\u201d all the more insidious is that the organization is (at times) successfully employing a \u201cdivide and conquer\u201d strategy by claiming to represent both \u201cresponsible\u201d gun owners (as if opponents are irresponsible) as well as \u201cbipartisan\u201d (that is, RINO) interests. We\u2019re essentially talking\u00a0Fudds and Democrat gun owners<\/a>, who place faith in centralized government disarmament diktats and hostility to \u201cdeplorables\u201d above uninfringed freedom for their countrymen. Out of such, we get groups like Giffords\u2019 calculatedly-named\u00a0Gun Owners for Safety<\/a>, and \u201cRepublicans\u201d like Joe Walsh, who capitalized on his supposed \u201cpro-gun\u201d\u00a0bona fides<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0advance his political career<\/a>\u00a0and then \u201cproved\u201d them by\u00a0\u201ccommending\u201d David Hogg<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0endorsing Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Walsh was joined in a recent\u00a097percent annual conference panel<\/a>\u00a0centered on the \u201croadmap\u201d with other names associated with \u201cgun rights,\u201d including trainer and former Brady Campaign president ally\u00a0Rob Pincus<\/a>, the Heritage Foundation\u2019s \u201cproperly crafted red flag\u201d-endorser\u00a0\u00a0Amy Swearer<\/a>, and Stephen Gutowski of\u00a0The Reload<\/em>\u00a0and now of CNN, all joining in to \u201clegitimize\u201d the show and demonstrating, wittingly or not, how \u201cinclusive\u201d those paying for it are. (Just to clarify: I do hope Gutowski continues to use his elevated platform to the best effect possible, and I support his efforts to educate a wider audience, but I also believe there\u2019s something in it for \u201cthem\u201d in terms of steering\u00a0the direction of the discourse<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

What we\u2019re seeing here is a manifestation of something I\u2019ve warned about: \u201cgun rights influencers\u201d gushing over all the new gun owners without considering\u00a0whether or not any votes have been changed<\/a>. Because it\u2019s not about guns, it\u2019s about freedom, and if owning them were all it was about, we\u2019d have no better pals than David Chipman and Lon Horiuchi.<\/p>\n

With the conference over and the media all over the \u201croadmap\u201d and the supposed \u201ccommon ground\u201d that it represents, let\u2019s think it through together for a moment. Forget yet-unresolved questions posed by the Supreme Court\u2019s\u00a0Bruen<\/em>\u00a0decision for a moment and let\u2019s say it all comes to pass and 97percent\u2019s four policies are enshrined into law throughout the land.<\/p>\n

Who thinks that will be it, and the jackals, now sated, will stop circling and go away?<\/h3>\n

Who thinks Joe Biden will give up on banning \u201cassault weapons,\u201d by executive order if he thinks he can get away with it, and ATF will stop legislating and \u201cdefining\u201d via \u201crules\u201d? We know what the end game is, no matter how much the gaslighting gun-grabbers want to ridicule us for repeating their own words back to them.<\/p>\n

Believe\u00a0Sen. Thomas Dodd<\/a>, the principal force behind the Gun Control Act of 1968, when he asserted:<\/p>\n

\u201cI would be for abolishing all guns.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Believe Handgun Control Inc. (the predecessor of the Brady Campaign) founder\u00a0Nelson \u201cPete\u201d Shields<\/a>, when he told the\u00a0New Yorker<\/em>\u00a0back in 1976:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily \u2014 given the political realities \u2014 going to be very modest. . . .\u00a0 [W]e\u2019ll have to start working again to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen the next law, and maybe again and again.\u00a0 Right now, though, we\u2019d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice.<\/p>\n

Our ultimate goal \u2014 total control of handguns in the United States \u2014 is going to take time. . . .<\/span>
\nThe first problem is to slow down the number of handguns being produced and sold in this country.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second problem is to get handguns registered.<\/span><\/p>\n

The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition-except for the military, police, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors-totally illegal.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Believe\u00a0Deborah Prothrow-Stith<\/a>, who as dean of the Harvard School of Public Health wrote:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy own view on gun control is simple. I hate guns \u2014 and cannot imagine why anybody would want to own one. If I had my way, guns for sport would be registered, and all other guns would be banned.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Then believe\u00a0Mark Rosenberg<\/a>\u00a0of the CDC who wanted to see guns \u201cdirty, deadly and banned,\u201d and former Supreme Court Justice\u00a0John Paul Stevens<\/a>\u00a0who made worldwide headlines calling for the Second Amendment to be repealed.<\/p>\n

We could do this all day, but the point is made.\u00a0Of\u00a0course,<\/em>\u00a0\u201cthey\u2019re\u201d talking about taking your guns<\/a>.<\/strong> That\u2019s what it\u2019s\u00a0always<\/em>\u00a0been about, and anyone who says differently is either a liar or a fool.<\/p>\n

Give in to 97percent\u2019s \u201croadmap\u201d and all it will do is remove an impediment in the long march to the end game. The grabbers will be back the next day with new demands, newly invented \u201cloopholes\u201d and new lies, accusing Republicans of refusing to \u201ccompromise\u201d and the NRA of harboring \u201cextremists,\u201d all with the intent of swindling us out of\u00a0our birthrights<\/a>\u00a0and establishing an unchallengeable\u00a0monopoly of violence<\/a>.<\/p>\n

None of our rights are theirs to tamper with, let alone dictate on, and history more than adequately demonstrates\u00a0the \u201ccommon ground\u201d such roads invariably lead to<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
