{"id":88382,"date":"2022-12-06T09:16:31","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T15:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=88382"},"modified":"2022-12-06T10:33:09","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T16:33:09","slug":"88382","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=88382","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/nick-arama\/2022\/12\/05\/white-house-reveals-twisted-view-of-constitution-what-they-think-government-can-make-you-do-n669281\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">White House Reveals Twisted View of Constitution<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/bonchie\/2022\/12\/05\/justice-gorsuch-leaves-co-solicitor-general-stammering-during-oral-arguments-on-religious-liberty-n669062\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote earlier<\/a> about Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch nailed the Colorado Solicitor General for Jack Phillips, the Masterpiece Cakemaker, being forced to undergo \u201cre-education\u201d after refusing to create a custom cake celebrating same-sex marriage because it violated his religious convictions.<\/p>\n<p>Gorsuch made those comments in another case involving a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/streiff\/2022\/12\/05\/supreme-court-signals-it-will-side-with-website-designer-who-refused-to-create-sites-for-gay-marriages-n669168\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christian website designer Lorie Smith<\/a>. Colorado claims that her website design business qualifies as a \u201cpublic accommodation\u201d so therefore she cannot turn down a request to make a personalized website design advertising a same-sex wedding because it violates her religious beliefs, that she can be compelled to make the website. That amounts to the government\u2019s compelling speech since that\u2019s an expressive message that the designer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/justice-gorsuch-accuses-colorado-forcing-175543113.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is creating<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMr. Phillips had to go through a reeducation program, did he not?\u201d Gorsuch asked Colorado solicitor general Eric Olson. He retorted that it was actually training to educate him about Colorado law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome would call that a reeducation program,\u201d Gorsuch said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI strongly disagree,\u201d the defense attorney replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIsn\u2019t religious belief a protected characteristic?\u201d Gorsuch asked, to which Olson conceded, \u201cyes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Phillip\u2019s punishment from the Colorado commission also included a requirement that he submit quarterly reports on his company\u2019s compliance progress.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Kristin Waggoner, the Alliance Defending Freedom attorney representing Christian website designer Lorie Smith, noted that because of Colorado\u2019s \u201caggressive enforcement,\u201d her client\u2019s \u201cspeech has been chilled for six years.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The White House doesn\u2019t have a problem with the government\u2019s compelling speech, as White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explained, they think it\u2019s just fine to do it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">KJP: &quot;&#8230;we can require businesses&#8230;to service people, regardless of their backgrounds, even when that means businesses must, incidentally, engage in speech [with] which they disagree&#8230;&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/G8qsPBgBu3\">pic.twitter.com\/G8qsPBgBu3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Townhall.com (@townhallcom) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/townhallcom\/status\/1599868987839389697?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 5, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCourts have recognized that we can recog\u2013that we can require businesses\u2026to service people, regardless of their backgrounds, even when that means businesses must, incidentally, engage in speech which they disagree upon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, she\u2019s being cagey, a bit, here with the language and the speech in the pending case would not be \u201cincidental\u201d \u2014 it\u2019s the very heart of the request. What she\u2019s talking about is the public accommodation law. But no, the government can\u2019t compel speech, that\u2019s why SCOTUS is considering this case now.<\/p>\n<p>How dare the White House talk about the Constitution and then pretend they can compel speech? Or violate religious beliefs? Who are the fascists again? It\u2019s always the Biden team who has no problem violating the Constitution to achieve the purposes they want.<\/p>\n<p>We saw the White House\u2019s duplicitous approach when it came to Twitter as well. When liberals controlled Twitter, as Elon Musk revealed, the Biden team or the DNC could contact them and get things they didn\u2019t like suppressed. When people complained about getting banned, we were told by the liberals that Twitter was a \u201cprivate business\u201d and it could do what it wanted to users (despite the fact there was this apparent government collusion behind the scenes). But now that Elon Musk is in charge and Twitter has slipped out of their control, they must monitor and investigate it, to make sure that he complies with what they want.<\/p>\n<p>They think they can dictate to us and that\u2019s what this is about \u2014 control.
