{"id":88437,"date":"2022-12-08T05:57:44","date_gmt":"2022-12-08T11:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=88437"},"modified":"2022-12-08T08:46:47","modified_gmt":"2022-12-08T14:46:47","slug":"88437","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=88437","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some of our neighbors to the North &#8230;&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thenewamerican.com\/canadian-provinces-refuse-to-assist-in-trudeaus-gun-grab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Provinces Refuse to Assist in Trudeau\u2019s Gun Grab<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Justin Trudeau\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/politics\/trudeau-gun-control-measures-ban-1.5552131\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">banned<\/a>\u00a0some 1,500 makes and models of military-grade \u201cassault-style\u201d weapons in Canada in May of 2020, shortly after the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/the_americas\/rcmp-officer-killed-portapique-nova-scotia-shooting\/2020\/04\/19\/5ec80d1c-8255-11ea-81a3-9690c9881111_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mass killings<\/a>\u00a0in Novia Scotia. That ban ended licensed gun owners being allowed to sell, transport, import, or use these sorts of weapons in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>At that time, Public Safety Minister Bill Blair\u00a0said, \u201cAs of today, the market for assault weapons in Canada is closed. Enough is enough\u2026. Banning assault-style firearms will save Canadian lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, Trudeau and Canada\u2019s Liberal government are preparing to launch the mandatory buyback of the outlawed weapons, and several provinces and territories say they won\u2019t assist in the process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most strident opponents, including the United Conservative Party government in Alberta, are suggesting the Royal Canadian Mounted Police [RCMP] \u2018refuse to participate,\u2019\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/2022\/12\/02\/canada-gun-buyback-alberta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>\u00a0<em>The Washington Post.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Part of the provincial government\u2019s concern is that this gun confiscation program pushed by the Canadian federal minister in charge of the RCMP is unfunded. In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/release.cfm?xID=84669D2642487-C619-35ED-19DCED5B6047955C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a>, Alberta\u2019s provincial government stated that \u201cAlberta taxpayers pay more than $750 million annually to fund the RCMP as our provincial police service. Alberta\u2019s government expects that no tax dollars or police resources be wasted implementing a program that will not increase public safety\u2026. Alberta is not legally obligated and has informed Ottawa it will not offer assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They also advised the commanding officer of the RCMP in Alberta that \u201cpursuant to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/open.alberta.ca\/dataset\/65be10e5-1d1a-4fa8-a807-d68af51965a3\/resource\/ff2d8b88-7f29-4b03-b258-97c7bed23bdf\/download\/ppsa-appendix.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Provincial Police Service Agreement<\/a>\u00a0(PPSA), the confiscation program is not an objective, priority or goal of the province or the provincial police service, nor is such deployment \u2018appropriate to the effective and efficient delivery of police services.\u2019 Consequently, the RCMP should refuse to participate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The release continued, \u201cDespite taking this step, the federal government may still direct the RCMP to serve as confiscation agents. To prevent this from happening, Alberta will formally dispute any attempt to do so by invoking Article 23.0 of the PPSA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Post<\/em>\u00a0continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Marco Mendicino, Canada\u2019s public safety minister, has cast Alberta\u2019s \u201creckless\u201d position as a \u201cpolitical stunt.\u201d But Saskatchewan, Manitoba and New Brunswick have also balked at using \u201cscarce RCMP resources\u201d for the program.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNew Brunswick\u2019s bottom line is this: RCMP resources are spread thin as it is,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gnb.ca\/content\/gnb\/en\/news\/news_release.2022.10.0577.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Public Safety Minister Kris Austin in a press release. \u201cWe have made it clear to the Government of Canada that we cannot condone any use of those limited resources, at all, in their planned buyback program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New Brunswick release added, \u201cThe four provinces also called on the federal government to ensure that no funding for the Guns and Gang Violence Action Fund or other public safety initiatives be diverted to the federal firearms confiscation program. Instead, they said, funding should be used to fight the criminal misuse of firearms by addressing border integrity, smuggling and trafficking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The disagreement over the planned gun grab is adding to the tensions between Ottawa and the provinces. \u201cAlberta and Saskatchewan, long estranged from the capital, recently introduced bills to seek greater \u2018sovereignty\u2019 for their provinces and to fight what they see as federal \u2018intrusion,\u2019 said the\u00a0<em>Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo years ago, the federal government said that using police resources would be \u2018expensive and inefficient,\u2019\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gnb.ca\/content\/gnb\/en\/news\/news_release.2022.10.0577.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0Tyler Shandro, Alberta\u2019s minister of justice and solicitor general. \u201cNow the federal government has resorted to using police resources to seize firearms from Canadians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clearly supporting law-abiding citizens and pushing back at Trudeau\u2019s authoritarianism, Saskatchewan\u2019s Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister Christine Tell and Justice and Attorney General for Saskatchewan Bronwyn Eyre\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gnb.ca\/content\/gnb\/en\/news\/news_release.2022.10.0577.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201cWhile we fully support crime initiatives that focus on the issues related to the criminal use of illegal firearms, preventing and combatting gang violence and addressing the issue of illegal or smuggled guns in our province, we don\u2019t support those that impact law-abiding hunters, sport shooters, ranchers, farmers and Indigenous people who use firearms for lawful and good reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not all of Canada\u2019s provinces are against the weapons buyback, though.\u00a0<em>The Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/2022\/12\/02\/canada-gun-buyback-alberta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shared<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cYukon\u2019s government said it supports Trudeau\u2019s gun-control proposals and is committed to finding a balance between counteracting the adverse impacts of illegal firearms and respecting hunting rights. But Tracy-Anne McPhee, the territory\u2019s justice minister, has told Mendicino that its RCMP lacks the \u2018administrative, personnel or the financial resources\u2019 to participate without additional support, a spokeswoman said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trudeau\u2019s mission to take weapons away from Canadians \u2014 escalating his control with this gun grab and October\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thenewamerican.com\/trudeau-orders-freeze-on-handgun-purchases-in-canada\/\">national freeze<\/a>\u00a0on the sale, purchase, and transfer of handguns \u2014 is just another step toward destroying his citizens\u2019\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/Const\/page-12.html#h-41\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">constitutional rights<\/a>\u00a0to \u201clife, liberty and security of person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His zeal to be a dictator and disarm his constituents is finally running into resistance from the provinces and pro-gun groups.
