To End Climate Lunacy, Stop Treating Warming & C02 Hysterically<\/a><\/p>\n

Those who oppose economically destructive \u201cclimate\u201d policies \u2013 like those promoted by the Biden administration and at the recent United Nations COP27 conference \u2013 will continue to fail to stop the advance of these policies so long as they continue to accept the false claim that warming of the planet and carbon dioxide emissions are harmful.<\/p>\n

They are not. On balance, global warming and CO2 emission are beneficial.<\/p>\n

Before getting to why that is, however, it is crucial to understand why accepting the false climate claim is so harmful.<\/p>\n

When the destructiveness of climate policies is shown, the response is that the policies nevertheless are necessary to address what President Biden refers to as\u00a0the\u00a0\u201cexistential threat<\/a>\u201d of global warming and increased CO2 emissions.<\/p>\n

When it is noted that these\u00a0climate policies will at most microscopically and insignificantly reduce temperatures and CO2 emissions, climate policy mandarins push for even more draconian policies.<\/p>\n

The result has been that since the 1990s, climate policies have become increasingly destructive and wasteful. Even worse, their continued intensification appears unlikely to\u00a0be stopped until the public and policymakers are persuaded that global warming and CO2 emissions are not harmful. As\u00a0Margaret Thatcher famously said:\u00a0\u201cFirst you win the argument, then you win the vote<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

To win this argument, it is necessary to focus on the scientific facts.<\/p>\n

A warming planet saves lives.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Analyses of\u00a0millions of deaths in recent decades in numerous countries, published in\u00a0the British medical journal The Lancet, show that\u00a0cooler temperatures killed nine times (July 2021 study<\/a>) to seventeen times (In\u00a0May 2015 study<\/a>) more people than warmer temperatures.\u00a0The planet\u2019s recent modest warming\u00a0(by\u00a01.00<\/a>\u00a0degree Celsius on average since 1880, as calculated by NASA) thus\u00a0has\u00a0been saving millions of lives<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CO2 emissions do not pollute and instead are environmentally beneficial.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0In 2017,\u00a0over 300 scientists, including Richard Lindzen of MIT and William Happer of Princeton, signed a\u00a0statement<\/a>\u00a0that made this point:\u00a0\u201ccarbon dioxide is not a pollutant. To the contrary, there is clear evidence that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is environmentally helpful to food crops and other plants that nourish all life. It is plant food, not poison.\u201d Every one of us, indeed, also exhales carbon dioxide with every breath.<\/p>\n

Since 1920, deaths each year from\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>natural disasters<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0have decreased by over 90 percent.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>And this happened, data from\u00a0EM-DAT – The International Disaster Database presented by\u00a0The University of Oxford show, not only as the planet has warmed, but as world population has quadrupled.<\/p>\n

Global warming has not increased hurricanes<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0A\u00a0NOAA report<\/a>, updated on November 28, 2022, states that\u00a0\u201cthere is essentially no long-term trend in hurricane counts. The evidence for an upward trend is even weaker if we look at U.S. landfalling hurricanes, which even show a slight negative trend beginning from 1900 or from the late 1800s.\u201d<\/p>\n

The same report\u00a0sums it up in\u00a0bold:\u00a0\u201cWe conclude that the historical Atlantic hurricane data at this stage do not provide compelling evidence for a substantial greenhouse warming-induced century-scale increase in: frequency of tropical storms, hurricanes, or major hurricanes, or in the proportion of hurricanes that become major hurricanes.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Global warming also does not increase land burned by fires.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0As environmental statistician Bjorn Lomberg has shown using data\u00a0from the Journal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Remote Sensing of Environment, and Earth\u2019s Future,\u00a0the\u00a0percentage of global land\u00a0burned<\/a>\u00a0per year in 1905-2021 has been declining.<\/p>\n

Sea levels are rising \u2013 but only by a small fraction of an inch each year.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>An EPA\u00a0report<\/a>\u00a0updated on August 1, 2022, states: \u201cWhen averaged over all of the world\u2019s oceans, absolute sea level has risen at an average rate of 0.06 inches per year from 1880 to 2013,\u201d including a slightly increased rate since 1993 of \u201c0.12 to 0.14 inches per year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UN climate models that President Biden, John Kerry, and other climate doomsters use to predict future global temperatures are so speculative and unreliable that they have been unable even to reproduce the 20th<\/sup>\u00a0century\u2019s temperature changes.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0This is a key point in the must-read book by Obama Department of Energy Under Secretary for Science Steven Koonin,\u00a0Unsettled: What Climate Science Tells Us, What It Doesn\u2019t, and Why It Matters<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

These kinds of facts should persuade the public and policymakers to stop accepting the false claim that global warming and CO2 emissions are harmful.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

When this false claim is no longer widely accepted, policymakers will stop imposing climate policies that particularly impoverish the world\u2019s poor.<\/p>\n

They will stop holding international boondoggles like COP27 and that demand vast climate-related foreign aid programs.<\/p>\n

They will stop spending hundreds of billions of dollars on domestic climate sinkholes.<\/p>\n

And they will stop using purported \u201csocial cost of carbon<\/a>\u201d factors (even though the true social cost of carbon is zero) to regulatorily restrict domestic fossil fuel production, transportation, and use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
